I saw a new onc this week through my Kaiser insurance.  I just wanted to have her get familiar with my situation in case I really have to change oncs and to get my meds cheap.  I really like her.  She has authorized a CT scan and bone scan.  Since I've never had either, I think I will feel a bigger sense of relief once they come back negative (like my positive attitude??? - LOL).  My PCP thru Kaiser wants me to get a bone density scan as well.  The new onc tested me to make sure I am indeed in menopause.  The results came back the next day (I can see them online - it's pretty cool) and I am definitely in menopause.  So, I can continue with Arimidex.  I like that much better than Femara as far as side effects.  Then I go back to see her in 6 weeks to discuss all the results.  My other onc pretty much based everything on the CA15-3 test, which we all know isn't totally accurate.  Kaiser does a different test for tumor markers, but doesn't rely on it alone.  I feel pretty good about all this.  I'll keep you all posted.

I have not checked the board for awhile and then I see this, are you having some problems or are they just doing extra tests? I hope all of the test come out okay. I hope the new onc turns out to be a keeper, I would hate to change any of my doctors I have been very lucky to get good ones. Keep us posted when you get all of your results.

Hugs to you
Bernadette

No, I'm not having any problems.  The new onc just wants to have the tests done as a screening.  I will be having the CT scan this Friday and the bone scan the following Monday.  I can't have anything to eat or drink for 4 hours before the CT!  It's going to be hard, mostly the not drinking.  I drink a lot of water.

Tammy,

No, I don't have any pain with Arimidex.  I did with Femara, that's why my original onc changed me, even though he prefers Femara.  I was also feeling very tired.  That was probably more from not sleeping well.  The meds he gave me for that and hot flashes has really helped in that area.  I feel much more like my old self again.  I have gained weight (10 lbs since last Oct).  My onc has challenged me to lose it again by this Oct.  I stopped walking as much as I used to, so that's part of the problem, too.  I have to get back on track!

Kathy
