I would like to find out if what is going on with me is typical, and that this is what happens in the steps my docs and myself are doing right.

I was currently on humira for "crohns disease"
Actually as of yesterday......Went to the gyny, she felt a lump in the left breast, I have ha small cysts removed in the doc office that turned out to be nothing.....this lump, I assume is different, for she is sending me to the surgeon right away.
I also have a lump under my arm pit.

I am scard, on top of the Crohns I alo have had a benign brain tumor and tyroid cancer.

anyhow, on Monday I have to have a 3 D mammo..( I have no idea, what the difference is) I assume it is better or more reliable then a regular mammogram.

On Tuesday I meet with the surgeon.

I guess they ae going to remove it, do a biopsy and go from there.

will I have to be hospitalized for the removal???????
How long will I have to wait for biopsy results?????

And on top of all of this the Humira was working so well for the Crohns disease, for the first time in 7 years I am off prednisone......and  was feeling so much better.

Now, I have to quit the pred., go through this and at the end of the month have a pelvic ultra sound for a hystorectomy....which they would never do before now becasue of all the scar tissue from prior belly and intestinal surgeries.

but they said since this lump has appeared, it is best to have everyhting taken out...

I am so scard, becasue of the un-know I guess....

any info would help!!!!!!!!!

thank you

Whoa Gretchen you have been through the mill. I doubt that normal even for breast cancer will apply to you. It sounds like your doctors are doing all the right things. Biopsy results take different amounts of time depending on the type of biopsy and who is available to do the reading of the test at the time. Some smaller hospitals have to send everything away, while bigger hospitals have doctors on staff to do the reading. When I had my mastectomy they dtermined the cancer through a frozen section while I was in the OR and since I had signed papers to go ahead, they did. Needle tests can be read immediately, too, if the staff is there. Otherwise it can take a week or even more. Sometimes the pathology can be so different from the normal that it is even sent sent to specialized hospitals for results and that can take several weeks. It doesn't happen often, but it happens. The biopsy can be done in day surgery, but if they decide to do the lymph node it could be more. I hate to sound so uncertain but as with all things there can be exceptions to the norm. Just take care and try not to worry until you know what you need to worry about. Hugs and prayers, Mary K.

went today, which  what i thought ws just a ultra sound

BUT>>>they did a mammo, anultra sound, 3 small needle biospsies...met with the surgeon along with about 5 other docs.

they said I would have results by 1:00 a 3:00 I called, they said that there wasn't enough cells so they had to try the second...which also came back not enough cells in that one either...so they are going to hopefully be able to use the 3rd one....if not...I will have to come back and have another needle biopsy while they do another ultra sound.so, thats where I am at...Monday a week from today they want to do a mri....so that they know exacty where everything is....What I don't understand is...First....why the mri if they don't know whether surgery is necessary.

all they kept saying is it looks suspecious. well what the heck does that mean?

second, she told me not to beat myself up over the mammo gram, because I hadn't had one....

she said the lump didnt even show on the mammogram, they didnt see it until they did the ultra sound, and the pysical exam.

i am so tierd already!!!!!!
