I saw your posts in response to the loss of Chris. I'm glad to see you both and think of you often too...what a hoot that hotel in SL was! It actually made for some funnier memories...like the hole in my window...I slept with earplugs and a pillow over my head!

I hope you both drop by when you can, our old group has been decimated by the disease and the familiar faces are a welcomed site!

Hope you are both wonderful!

Lori, I was just about to add another post to Lauri, to tell her that we miss seeing her around here as well! We must have been posting about the same time, and you beat me to it!

Anyway, Lauri, we DO miss your happy thoughts around here, girl.

Don't be such a stranger. Thought maybe you were out gadding about the African Veldt again or something.

Love and hugs...

Amen and Amen! It is soo good to see and hear from you. Please don't stay away so long. I know life is busy and especially with grandchildren we want to spend all the time we can with them. I have a third great grandchild on the way, HE will be born in November. Are either of you adding to your family?

Hugs, MK

Thanks for the kind words, MK, Lori and Bev.  I was glad to see Luci post, too. I think of her and the rest of the "old group" often.

I am staying busy and life is good. We just have the two grandchildren, Melanie will be 4 next week on Aug. 4, and Luke turned 1 in March. The kids are still in Indiana, and I suspect they will be for a long, long time. SIL got a promotion earlier this year, a good sign that Lilly wants to keep him around.

Son Peter is still living with us. He has his space in the basement. Would like to see him move on with this life, but I fear he is going to stay single.

My mother is doing fine. She and I have not taken another trip together. Instead, she has taken a couple of shorter trips with my youngest sister who also lives her in the Twin Cities area.

I had cataract surgery on both eyes this summer and will go in for eye exam in a week or so for lenses to correct my astigmatism and for close up work such as reading and stitching. I am surviving with a pair of $10 reading glasses from Walgreens in the interim. It seems really strange to see well without glasses or contacts.

I am still CL-ing the Breast Cancer Support Board at iVillage. It is a calm and friendly place once again. We have a really good group of women on the board. No (cross my fingers) trouble makers anymore.

Thanks again for the nice welcome. Hugs to all, Lauri

Thanks for the update, Lauri. It is wonderful that your eyes are doing so well. Did you delegate your job as travel guide to your sister or was she chomping at the bit to take over? LOL. I don't know why but I think of you and your mother as somewhat the same as my mother and I. I took her on several of my business trips. She lives in a lovely home for the aged now. She is still well enough to get around, but her mind is getting worse all the time. Lately she has been telling me that my dad lived to the age of 91, which would have meant he died three years ago, when 30 is more like it. She has him confused with her father who died at 91. It is so sad to see this happening. I call her every night and lately she is telling me she can't hear me or doesn't understand me. I need to have my brother check out her telephone.

Don't be surprised if Peter finds someone and moves on. With the internet people are meeting and falling in love much later in life, when they probably would never have ventured out to meet otherwise. My neice and my son's best friend from grade school both met spouses over the internet and married in their forties. They seem exceptionally happy in their marriages, too. Marty and his wife even had a baby! He is a new father while my son is a grandfather. LOL.

I look in at IV once in awhile and see if any of our old friends post. There are many we have lost track of.

Take care and enjoy the grandbabies.

Hugs MK

Hi ladies,

I had to jump in on this post of "oldies".  I miss all of you so much and think often of our time in St. Louis.  Even though the hotel was "interesting", we had so much fun getting to know each other and doing crazy things together.  My husband and Debbie Tate's husband had time to get acquainted at the bar across the street from the hotel, too.

The pictures remind me how many of our sisters we have lost, but how many are still fighting the game.  I was so sorry to hear about Chris.  I called Cathi one evening and she told me.  It had been a while since I'd heard from her and knew she was not doing well, but still hard to hear she is gone.  She loved her little girls so much.  Hopefully she had time to make them each a scrapbook of remembrances of her short time with them.

Would love to get together with all of you again sometime.  I know Laurie was talking of something in MSP last year, but guess it didn't materialize.  That would be a place I could easily get to. ha

Let's all continue to keep in touch - either here or via regular email.  Take care and God Bless.

Kitty, the year just sort of got away from me with other activities. Let's try to put something together for next spring, or is it too late for October this year? Lauri

Lauri,

Next spring would be better for me.  If a date could be set before the end of the year it would help me cause I could put in for vacation on those dates and ensure my getting there.

Hope all are ok.
