I have ulcerative colitis (UC). 2 weeks ago i had my third infusion of remicade. no real issues up until now.my stomach has been upset, face seems hot. I get extreme fatigue all the time. Today at work i was so tired i couldn't even answer the phone. i lose motivation and just become a bum. I layed down for a while and thought i might sleep but i didn't, i just layed there, i wasnt sleepy , just realllly tired and out of it. This is really taking its toll on my daily life. Anyone else ever get this??? Could it be from the remicade? Possibly from EBV?i really wish i had something to blame it on so i could address the issue.

here is the catch. I have been dx'd with EBV 2 times in my past, does this sound like it has become active again? i do plan on going to the docs weds to have some blood taken, but wouldn't mind some input.

a couple suggestions-

you should consider a sleep study. I have severe fatigue and It tirns out that I stop breathing every 5 minutes in my sleep. You wouldnt know unless you have a sleep study.

Maybe get checked for lyme disease. Do you have any history of a tick bite or exposure to ticks like having a pet?

I agree getting B12 and rbc count would also be a good idea. If you need more info on LYme jsut let me know.

good luck
melissa

p.s. I get a flush face in the evening too. I have Lyme. Check your temp when it happens.

also I have no knwledge on UC and remicade. Not a doctor

I'm a fellow UC'er with extreme fatigue...but I've never had EBV and have no idea if that could be the cause of fatigue. Would you say that you're in a full remission? Sometimes just flaring can cause fatigue. Make sure you also get your hemoglobin/iron levels, vitamin D, and B12 checked.

I have had one nurse tell me that just having an autoimmune disease--even in remission--can cause fatigue. My GIs and other doctors have never owned up to that.
