This is my 7th day on valtrex and feeling terrible flu like symptoms with pain in hands and legs. Fatigue is also worse. I know Dr Lerner's website states that patients may feel worse before feeling better. Anyone else feeling this? In addition to Dr Lerner's protocol please research monolaurin.

Olivia-
I am currently on monolaurin (my stomach is not tolerating it well at all) and may have to start Valtrex soon if the supplements don't help. Did your symptoms ever get better?

Hey Jamie, I think the monolaurin is also upsetting my stomach so I switched to once a day. The symptoms from the valtrex have gotten much better. I still have my usual CFS symptoms but that flu like feeling and moodiness did stop. Can't wait to check my titers in three months. I truly believe antivirals are key to healing us. We see dr Lerner in October.

Olivia-I just wanted to see what test results indicated a treatment of anti virals.  Also, what is your impression of Dr. Lerner's practice so far?  I am curious to hear how the valtrex works for you.....that is one treatment that I have yet to try.

Hi Olivia,

I didn't see your response until after I wrote my monolaurin post! Ooops! I am currently only on the monolaurin once a day :( Do you take it with food?

I do take the monolaurin with food. I am positive for EBV, cytomegalovirus, and mycoplasma pneumonia. We found dr lerners protocol on the Internet and started the valtrex first. We haven't seen dr Lerner yet. My husband is a physician and didn't want to waste anymore time. I will also start levaquin 500mg daily for the mycoplasma. As for the cytomegalovirus we will wait to see what dr Lerner suggests in October. I don't take anything on an empty stomach. Slippery elm capsules by natures sunshine two capsules three times a day heated in 1/4 cup of water should help heal your stomach if you are having issues with meds. I was on every prescription out there for GI problems and the slippery elm cured it. I dont take any meds for stomach now. Hope this helps!

I tested positive for CMV and EBV IGG 1 year ago. Test were repeated this month. The IGG's for each went up. I still have all the symptoms as if these were active infections. I was a competitive athlete and always believed running and sweating would overcome any infections. In other words, I has been extremely hard for me to admit how sick I feel for past few years, yet doctors act as though I am not legit because these are IGG results. Is anyone else experiencing the same? FYI, took Valtrex 1g TID for whole year. Didn't make me well.
