Several years ago I was seen by Dr. Edwin Jacobson at U.C.L.A. medical center. I was given a the medication Sinequan or generic Doxepin. I actually responded very well for about a year until the Dr. told me I no longer needed to take the medication. I slowly became very ill again. I naturally started taking the Sinequan again and it I never responded to the medication again. I recently read a posting of a woman that saw Dr. Jacobson and was treated with medication and is doing very well. My question is, does anyone know of Dr. Jacobson and what medication he is now using to treat C.F.S. Thank you ---

Saw Dr. Jacobson from 1999 until he retired. Treated for CFS with Sinequan (which now only offered in generic form called Doxepin). I can never get completely off it. Remain on the lowest dose of 10mg. Have tried many times but symptoms or even new mysterious symptoms appear. Then need to go to a higher dose until symptoms are gone. Be aware, symptoms will manifest themselves into something completely different. Just increase the dose until they're gone. Then slowly drop back dose. It will work for you AGAIN if you start slow at 10mg then increase to 20mg, then 30mg, 35mg, 50mg. Or continue higher up measurably to 100mg. Once symptoms are gone, back down slowly the same way until 10mg. I've been on it for 17 years. Probably can never get off it.

Oh, by the way, do NOT eat any sugar. This includes fruit and fructose. It will prolong your recovery. When you recover, slowly integrate some. More than likely, it will bring on symptoms and mysterious (previously never had) symptoms. Then you'll need to up the Doxepin med. Best to stay away completely.
