Hi,

I'm visiting from the Lyme forum. I'm almost recovered (started treatment in Oct), but prior to my Lyme diagnosis, last July or so, I was having a lot a Chronic fatigue symptoms, especially after I took my B-12 shot. I have a clinically diagnosed B-12 deficiency and I take the shots once a month. Yesterday, I took my shot, but then developed some pretty bad fatigue. Does anyone experience this? I also have the MTHFR genes, so I take methylfolate and extra mag, potassium, other bs etc.. Any thoughts?

thx!

Hi, cr3ativegirl.

I'm also from the Lyme board. I have the MTHFR c677T gene mutation. And, although I do not have a B12 deficiency, my LLMD told me to get a methyl B-12 shot once a week.

I have the MTHFR c677T mutation as well. What might be causing the fatigue is a detox reaction. When I first started taking the methylfolate and methylated b12, I would get overwhelming fatigue from getting my methylation cycle moving and functioning better. I could only take my vitamins 1-2 times a week and slowly build up. Now I take it every day without any detox symptoms. Since the shot is usually a high dose of B12, it probably moves your methylation quicker than what your liver can handle. It's best to slowly build up the vitamins to minimize the symptoms.

Yes, I think you are completely right. My new LLMD has me taking methyl-b, folinic acid, b-6 shots, but only 2 ml every three days. Hope it works!

Inspiredby3 - what b-12 do you take everyday? I take the jarrow sublingual and rotate that with other bs in addition to my shots.

thx!

Thanks. I have that one also but I was worried with my gut issues that I wasn't absorbing that much through the stomach. I should try it again now that I'm also on the shots.
