Hello, first time using forum. I have come to a dead end with the medical establishment in Canada and thought perhaps somebody had an idea. Several years ago I had a urinary tract infection that turned into prostatitis. I was given several different anti-biotics over the years. At the same time i noticed that the lymph glands in my neck became sore and painful but not swollen. This was accompanied by a transitory tiredness that was exxaserbated with any  sustained exercise program. I then began to get a soreness in my chest at first vague but then more generalized in the lymph galnds. This has been followed by loss of strength in my left arm sore neck light headedness overall muscular soreness and  and increased general malaise. The condition became so severe as to force premature retirement from the military in 2004. I have been given several different diagnosis including hemochromotosis, depression and liver abnormalties. My bloodwork has consistently shown elevated ferritin, cholesterol, tryglcerides and uric acid. Liver biopsy and scans have shown fatty liver. CT scans of head and chest showed no abnormalties.Anti depressants did nothing except make me emotionless.
Recently I read an article that stated prostatitis can be a cause of CFS has anybody else heard this?Do my symptoms sound like cfs? If so can anybody recommend a plan of attack using a holistic approach. Thank you in advance

Hi Champ and welcome. I am really sorry about your health and that you are continuing to have so many problems. I haven't heard anything about prostatitis and CFS, but I haven't done a lot of reading about CFS lately, so there very well could be a relationship between the two.

Your symptoms do sound like CFS and it also sounds like you have some other health issues too. It would be worth asking your doc about CFS. Unfortunately I don't knwo a lot about holistic approaches to CFS. I tried a naturopath and homeopathic medicine in the very early '90's, but didn't notice much change.

Please feel free to ask any other questions you have.

Take care

I first contracted chronic fatigue syndrome 16 years ago, and it started with my first-ever bout of prostatitis.  So there definitely seems to me to be some connection there.  I haven't seen anything in print, though - do you have some references for this article you mentioned?

I have had chronic prostitis for 20 + years. I was diagnosed with CFS last fall, but I think I have had all the symptoms for about 5 years.

My trouble with my prostate started after I had a vasectomy in 1979. Have any of you had a vasectomy?

Hi guys, I'm another chronic prostatitis / CFS sufferer. Do you still have problems, or are you well already ? Please reply, you can read my story here , and you can also register and write your stories there, so we form a community. Not many people suffering CP also complain CFS symptoms.
