Ok this all started in january, first symptoms were sensitivity to light and pressure in the back of my head, about 2 or 3 months after had pain in not sur if it is my muscles or not but deep in my skin on arms and legs, monospot positive may 1st, in june 2 swollen nodes on side of my neck, but did not swell to much but a little, soreness sometime in my rib cage, itchy skin sometime but that seems to be gettin a little better, on and off light sore throats, always had big tonsils though, symptoms i am left with swollen nodes, for 4 months or 5 months, lightly swelled, pressure in back of head but sinusitis was discovered in march probably due to my broken nose after i broke it only had air that came out of 1 side that happened at age 14 i am 27 now, i have fatigue, but i was sleeping about 12 hours a day, now about 7 or 8, i don't really take naps, i do however have manic depression and panic attacks, and i am on xanax, sometime the itchy skin would leave a red streak mark, i guess maybe broken blood vessels, thanks alot for your help it will be greatly appreciated, my doc thinks it still is probably the mono, im startin to worry about lymphoma but he said i don't have night sweats which is good, this has been one heck of a year.

hiya panicky . sorry to hear what you are going thru at this very moment in time . it is just a suggestion . it could be fibromyalgia . chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalagia mimics each other . if it is , there is a number of things you can do to sort it out which is take vitamin B-complex , primrose oil , vitamin C , magnesium , do some exercise , reduced the stress in your life , learn some relaxtion moves and cut out the sugar . what you are experiencing is DUE TO STRESS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! these 2 illnesses are stress related . hope this helps you .

Thanks alot guys, yes been having alot of stress i did test positive in may for mono, but dam i have soreness in rib cage today, a little itchy, node still a little swelled really can only see it when i turn my neck i believe it is the submaxillary node in my neck, and muscle pain, and poor memory and hard time concentrating, but i have been eating alot better and when i do that seems to reduce the fatigue, thank you sue i been hearing about the b complex vitamin i think i will try that also someone else told me take magnesium too, i been on xanax for a while and someone told me that meds can lower your magnesium and make you itchy, but i kinda got a feeling this is fibro or cfs, i'm under alot of stress also, and you say thats what causes cfs, if thats the case then i really believe i have it, i was paranoid about hiv and reading symptoms and everytime i do i freak out and then to is when i seem to itch, but i don't think i have that the doc up the e.r checked my nodes around my groin and said you have no stds but i know you can't tell from that, but i'm tryin to keep positive that i don't have it plus i hear symptoms only last 3 days to 14 days most cases then go away for 8 to 9 years mine been with me since like january, i appreciate your info alot, you guys are great on here i'm gonna try the things you said and i wen't downhill after not doin exercise i haven't exercised in a long time, thanks all and take care.

panicky, I'm sorry you have been having problems with your health for so long. Since you had mono is May, it might just be taking a long time for you to fully recover. I had mono my senior year of high school (I'm 39 now) and I missed a month of school, but it took me a very very long time before I felt anything that resembled normal, in fact I feel like I was never ever the same after I had mono. For the entire first year after I had mono I had chronic strep throat and I had never had strep throat in my life and I was exhausted a lot of the time. Eventually I was diagnosed with CFS and then after about 3 years I finally got some relief and was fairly healthy for a few years before developing lupus.

I'm guessing that someone has probably already suggested getting tested for lymes disease too just to rule that out. It is very hard to sort some of these illnesses out and to get an accurate diagnosis. Your symptoms do sound like CFS, but the symptoms are also rpesent in other illnesses too, however, having mono does seem to precede cfs a lot of times. Hang in there and know that we are here for you. Take care.
Diagnosis:  UCTD (lupus) 2006; Raynauds 2006; Sjogren's 2006; lupus symptoms began 2003; CFS 1991; Mono 1985

Panicky,

I can feel your tension in your writing, and I can see you're scared.  I know and understand fully, but try to relax a little bit.  My Wife went through a very bad spat of Mono.  She tested positive for EBV in August of 2005.  It's just now fully out of her system.  She had horrible fatigue, swollen nodes, stiffness... all what you're talking about.  I would relax and rest up as much as possible.  Get and stay on a healthy diet, and take lots of vitamin C to help your immune system.  I would wait on any other testing until the Mono is gone.  Fatigue is such a common symptom and swollen nodes can be impossible to diagnose.  You also don't want to put yourself through the stress of waiting for results, or paying for the co-pay.

I wish you the best, and hope you get better soon!!!!!

Take care,

It could be CFS.. that often starts out how you described and often ones with it do test positive to mono too. All the symptoms you described can be present in CFS even that "sometime the itchy skin would leave a red streak mark, " There is a special name for that and some CFS specialists will actually run a fingernail lightly down the skin to see if that occurs as it occurs so often in CFS that some note it as one of the signs. My skin does that too.

Another CFS test some do is to get the patient to stand up, feet together.. look at the doctor.. then shut ones eyes and try to stand there like that for a minute. 80% of CFS people can not do it. I go down instantly, it puts me into an instant collapse.
