Hey

A few weeks before christmas I got a plague of virus's, I often do in winter as M.E has given me incredibly low immunity, my main problem is, after christmas I played a few video games, the focus must have agitated the virus and my eyes got extremely bloodshot, sore, tired, hurts to look to the side, black lines/dots in my vision, sensitivity to light, and the worst is I cannot focus on video games, reading, etc. without making in unbareable, I went to the doctors, optisions, etc. but they all said its probably a virus and will fix itself, well its been months, and the doctors have been wrong numerous times with me in the past, I'm going back, but wanted to know if anyone else experianced any of this and if it could be a virus/illness linked to CFS?

Have you ever had your thyroid checked?  To measure your TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone)?

Chem,

As Sarita said, your thyroid can cause issues. I posted on your other thread about Adrenal fatigue. Adrenal issues can have effects on your thyroid as well. How did your doctors know this was a virus? Did they do blood work? You might want to all see an Infectious disease doctor as well.

Have you also considered Lyme disease?

Hello, thank you for the replies.

My doctors never ever seem to conclude what I have, they've given me a couple of tests here and there, but they have never had significant information for me on what is the cause to my problems.

I have been told for years I have swollen thyroid glands, I was checked for glandualer fever early on in my illness and I did not have it, but they have not further tested my glands atall. I also had a persistant cough for years, as if a tickle in my throat, ALL the time, eventually that went, but as usual the doctors didn't try too hard, just looks down my throat, etc. and never concluded anything.

I never considered Lyme disease until now, but now that I think about it I have plenty of the symptoms, thank you for mentioning that.

You two have definitely given me a few things to research more about, thank you and if you have any more advice i'd appreciate it.

*EDIT*

Well I feel like its worth giving my doctors another try, I have an appointment with a doctor a relative recommends next week, i'll bring a list of my symptoms and go over everything, I'll also bring all information from this site. I was never given an extensive line of tests or officially concluded that I had CFS, so I want them to exhaust every other possibility before I will be able to accept what I have, i've tried to get help numerous times but never was I asked for overall symptoms or a full story, I think if I force this on in my appointment and just pre-write it. They may actually spark a few ideas as to another illness I may have.

Chem, if you have an enlarged thyroid, they should have been testing your TSH levels since they found it.  If your TSH is very low, this could signify Grave's disease (among other problems), which can lead to the eye symptoms you are describing.  If your TSH was normal, however, this would mean your thyroid is okay.  The test is very sensitive and effective.

I was just diagnosed with this and experience pretty intense hyperthyroidism.  They found it right away with the TSH test.  I don't have any major eye issues, but it is a major complication of Grave's.
