My dad had post stoke pain, and has been ok'd to have the  pump implant. The problem is, the doc he saw is so far away, he cant make it there every 6 or so weeks for the refill. He lives in Waxahachine, so we are trying to find someone in the Mansfield/Arlington/Ft worth area. He is worried that the pmp meds are going to make have more urine retention and he will have to cathederize himself. He has already been thru every med, and he has the side effects, or the cant pee problem. Please let me know if someone can suggest anyone. thanks so much sad

Hi Explainthe Pain,

I live in Ft. Worth and I see a pain mgt specialist in Weatherford, who not only recommended my pain pump, he was there for my surgery. All of my refills are done in his office. His main office is located in Weatherford which is 30 miles west of Ft. Worth. He does have a satelite office in Granbury. Where does your Dad live? Has your Dad had trouble with certain medications causing the urinary problem? Is your Dad having a problem with the medications being used in his pump at this time? My dr does need a referral to be seen by him. I have been with my pain dr several years now and I think quite highky of him. I had the very same problem when I was wearing the Fentanyl patches. When they upped me to 75 I ran into a big problem in that area and we had to discontinue the patches.

I will not consider seeing the limited few pain management specialists we have here in Ft. Worth. I am quite sure Dallas has a much larger number to pick from. However, I refuse to drive to Dallas, its a whole new ballgame driving in Dallas, lol.

If your Dad is interested in my dr, please let me know and I will give you his name and phone number. Also, your Dad will need copies of his medical records if he has them.
