cool cool cool cool cool cool cool

It is BEACH PARTY TIME! And EVERYONE is invited! It's virtual, of course, and that has some huge benefits. We will be in our "virtual" bodies, and therefore have no pain, no illness, and we can eat and do anything our hearts desire!
Now I do gently ask we play by the rules of the forum, and keep it family friendly, no politics, religion, etc. Other than that your creativity should be unleashed to run free!

Ok here's a few of the initial details (more will follow :-) ):

The location is the south shore of Lake Erie, on a long stretch of sandy beach. The weather this time of year is perfect, and the sunsets as good as they get.

Everyone will have his/her/their own private cabana, which will be appointed precisely as you request. So I need a little advance knowledge.

First, name your cabana, so we know how to identify you! Each will have tempurpedic mattresses (unless otherwise requested), the fluffiest of towels, robes, and slippers. Comfy beach thongs. You are asked to bring your own bathing suit. You can tell us about it or not - your choice. tongue

The party will start tonight with a surf and turf lakeside dinner, prepared by a surprise chef from the food network (do the initials B.F. ring a bell? We can't mention names....). You need to tell me what else you want or wil be bringing for sides and desserts!

The party will last until Labor Day. Nightly campfires - including pity party sessions while toasting marshmellows - are encouraged. Just let us know when you need one.

There will be jet ski races, and even cruises on a tall ship (more on that later).

And special surprises throughout...

There will be plenty of hot dogs and burgers available all the time, but I need to know what everyone else will be bringing. And activities you want to put on the agenda. Those of you with mischevious tendencies (and you know who you are, even if we've never met devil) I expect to add a few surprises!

Check in starts NOW! yeah

PaLady, having grown up on the eastern shore of Lake Ontario (Sandy Creek NY) I miss the great lakes terribly so am so looking forward to spending long evenings watching the sunset over the Lake. Ontario is a raging beast, dark and moody with whitecaps when the wind picks up. As the sun sets the tops of the waves turn all the colors of flame and then fade to an inky black that seethes under the surface of the water. You can hear the lake breath from miles away.
So my Cabana will be named Oswego in memory, It will be open to the lake and positioned so I can watch the sunsets and get full benefit of the wind as it moves off the lake (By the way Erie also figured into my growing up as its eastern shore borders Syracuse). They will hold the annual balloon fest on the southern shore this year and at an odd time so we can enjoy the sight of the baloons drifting against the background of the sunrising over the water. Strangely enough I will need warm gloves and heated socks that cover my ankles (at night only) to protect my arthritic joints from the wind.
I will bring cortland apples (its virtual right so who cares if they won't be picking cortlands for months yet) and New York maple syrup. If anyone enjoys it I will bring the pressed maple sugar candy as well. Oh and of cource cidar from the Watertown Mill. Hard for those of you who prefer and fresh for those who enjoy that.
Thank you for inviting me, PaLady, this is a vacation I will enjoy very much.

I am calling my cabana Tanathion which is in remembrance of my book. I am a huge success as an author at this beach party and have not a pain one and not a care in the world. My cabana has beautiful silk sheets white in color....soft see through curtains that let the breeze of the evening blow in through them and hubby beside me happy and healthy.

We gotta have some campfires at night with some cool musicians that sing to us. I will bring the Wyoming Potato Salad...a huge tradition that was passed down to me from my grandmother and hers before her. Too I wish to see the best strawberries, watermelon, kiwis, passion fruit and mangos that anyone has ever seen or tasted.

Make sure that the hershey bars are ready along with the gram crackers...SMORES Baby!!!! I am soooooo there PA great party!

So, ok, name your cabana so you can come join us! And bringing only little umbrellas for the drinks won't cut it. I know you can do better! devil

Hmmmm... Okay, let's see.

Alright, first - the Cabana!
I've got to go with the Tempurpedic you mentioned. That's a good start. But I think I'll take 3 of them piled atop one another (like the princess and the pea - sans pea of course). And, let's see... The sheets have GOT to be 1500 thread count Egyptian cotton. Then let's have something sheer hanging from the cabana, blowing in the light breeze. Oh, yeah - and of COURSE, there's the cabana boys! I'm going to have not one, not two, but THREE, count them THREE highly qualified, top of their class super skilled (but still young and oh so good looking) massage therapists. And they'll have to make a great margarita too! (yep, I'm bringing the umbrellas still, PaLady!)

Okay, now to share with everyone... Well, you can all drop by my cabana for a massage and a margarita. But I will ALSO bring with me a cooler full of assorted frozen treats - fudgecicles, ice-cream bars, sno-cones, you name it! And then last, but not least, I will supply a ball and net for our own beach volleyball game (which everyone will play without pain or injury!).

How's that PaLady? Oh.. And I promise the only thongs I wear with be on my FEET! (Although, given that this is the virtual world - my tank-ini with skort will still look great b/c I'm going to just imagine that I have a superbly athletic well-toned bod!) tongue

Ry

Okay, PaLady says I have to give my Cabana a name, and I don't want to get booted from the beach for breakin' the rules, so here goes... Cabana! I dub thee...

Caban-Aaaahhhhh

tongue tongue tongue

Like I said, I knew I could count on you, Ry!

Massages and marguaritas and cabana boys (we've got to think of something for the guys....cabana "girls" just doesn't cut it. I mean we gotta keep this family friendly!)

It's a good thing we've got virtual bodies and the calories from all the good eats are virtual, too! yeah

PaLady
I didn't know they made 1500 count sheets - but rest assured (pun intended :-) ) you will have them, along with your 3 tempurpedics and everything else, but you need to name your cabana or someone might take it for their own!

I would like to name my Cabana.. Peace and Quiet

I will bring some Florida lobster, as it's almost Lobster season in the Keys! I will attend the camp fire for smores every night and would like to request a bike to rent for some private get away time!
While i have the PERFECT body ( I am a dancer after all) The only thong i will be wearing is on my feet!!!! LOL

But, I shall provide, chicken cooked with butter and bucks, salt potatos, and an assortment of veges from the farm stands that line route 11. Special dietary needs/prefernces will be accomidated with a selection of favorites from the Fairgrounds Inn. To snack on, salt water taffy from the thousand Islands along with their homemade fudge. Nestle is providing chocolate from their fulton plant. Buffallo wings will be served as an appitizer. And how can I forget real pizza from Pavones

I knew this group was creative! yeah

Sj - Although I live very close to NY state and am intimately familiar with Buffalo Wings (& the Anchor Bar - many, many years ago!), I've not had such a feast as you describe. I am looking forward to it. I just have to get my head clear. Recovering a bit from the hard cider and "special" lemonade. eyes

Char - the name is yours. Good thing you took it before Ry got her hands on it. Hey, I'll check with Barry Manilow and see if we can get him for an evening of dancing and singing! Maybe the whole place ought to be titled the Copa! Oh, plenty of towels all over the place - in the cabanas, on the beach, anywhere. And a private laundry service to take care of those day to day things. No work for this group!

And Vanilla Tequilla? I thought I'd heard it all, but this group is teaching me new tricks. devil

I'm proud of you!

since I'm in my virtual body, I want to be close to large surfable waves (we'll put North Shore) just a little ways down the beach for all you that want to catch waves with me. Oh, and get on my bike and bike the ocean areas. I guess I'll have the activity cabana with cool little tree frogs printed on the frabic.
...Lucky me, right now, I am vacationing in Santa Cruz. So beautiful. Love this place so much.

beaches real or virtual have this wonderful power to make many of us feel better. yeah

You know I have only been to the beach twice in my life and when I did get to go it was wonderful! Ex was stationed in GA so we got to go to the beach often. Then when I married my second hubby he took me to disney land which I got to spend a few days on that beach. One thing about WY and KS no beaches, so I think I will be spending my time looking for Sea Shells by the Seashore! he he he.

Make sure we have plenty of Strawberries, the real big ones sweet and juicy. I love Strawberry Daquiri's so I will have a blender in my room and lots of frosted tall daq glasses for the yummy supply of Daquiri's that I will be wanting!

By the way does each room have the best tv shows as well?? I won't be bringing any Rocky Mountain Oysters...hate them. But I shall bring some elk steaks that hubby prepares in a marinated sauce that ya'll will love!!!

Scarred,
I'm going to try to find a link to some photos (I'm not very good at all this computer stuff and have an old dial up connection, so this is easier said than done!) to give you an idea of what this looks like.

A lot of the shells here are small, but what a lot of people get into is finding "lake glass" which are small pieces of colored glass that have been worn by the water into smooth, varying shapes. There are people who make jewelry from it, so I'll arrange to have someone give everyone a special gift made from Lake Erie beach glass. And you can take home as much as you want - it's very light!

I will equip your room (and anyone else who wants it) with large, flat screen tv's and high def. TV and cable and whatever else you want. For those who don't want such high tech things to interrupt their vacation, the cabana will be more serene. I aim to please! yeah

And Becoming - the waves here usually aren't big enough to surf, although I'm sure I could arrange for one extremely windy day where the wave action tops out at 10 or 11 feet. Will that do? It's a bit different from the ocean - but fresh water so if you have cuts it won't burn! :-)

Scarred,
Hubby will have lots of company with other Steelers fans in the area! But there are also the Browns and Bills fans (I won't go there!).

Tell him we'll even arrange a surprise visit by Big Ben himself - he'll know who I mean. And if he wants, a trip down to Pittsburgh to watch the training in person!

Remember, though, you'll want some time to just listen to the waves. You inland folk need some new experiences! tongue

But there is plenty of fishing....not deep sea, but good old Lake Erie varieties!

The music will play like it plays in the movies as the scenes go by.
As I stroll along the beach my long, silky, straight black hair will blow
softly.
I'll wear my tiny white bikini top and a graceful sarong skirt.
The Music?
Tall & Tan
& Young and lovely
The girl from Ipenema
goes walking
and as she passes
each one she passes goes "Ahhhhhh"
When she smiles
it's like a Samba ...
la da de dah dah..
la da de dah dh .
(I don't know the lyrics. Anybody?)
PS
I will be carrying a large beach bag ...
and in the beach bag, there will be my special surprise.
I will tell you the surprise at a later date.
Pam from Ipenema heads for her castle on the hillside
I don't know anything about eerie lakes. All I know is the left coast.
(I know that very well)
