im a 23 yr old female with lots of health problems. I know all of these health problems factor in my with pain. Well here are the diseases i have been diagnosed with since the age of 18. Diabetes [type 2], high cholestrol, TMJ, endometrirosis, ovarian cysts, gastritis, depression, anxiety, degenerate disc disease, several herniations throughout spine, and osthroarthritis in lumbar spine.
Well i just had a back surgery Jan 2 2008 and it didnt work, in a week and half sept 4 2008 getting ready for another. 2 differents surgeons, the 1st one was really nice at first and said ill come out feeling 110% better, well i didnt i came out feeling 110% worse. I have been disable for the past year and filing for disability {which really sucks} I got new MRIs from after the first surgery and showed the disc he did surgery on are stilll herniated with tears in disc along with the disc disease in them. When i went and seem him he acted like my back was PERFECT and i should be feeling great. He said alll he seen was the disc disease and some scar tissue, i was so angry in his office b/c he said he cant expllain why im iin so much pain. I was crying so much that he wouldnt even look at me much less speak to me, my mom was with me in the room and the surgeon spoke to my mom about my problems and i know im an adult and whetheer i was upset or not he should have been speaking to me not my mom she wasnt the patient. Well i was so upset and didnt believee what he said i went and got second opinion and this surgeon suggest i do another surgery, and if this dont work a bone fusion. Those words coming out of his mouth were scary, im only 23 and i feeel like im 53, i dont have a life due to alll the problems i have. I do have a positive attitude about though, im just complaining right now lol!!!
Well im still really scared on the inside but dont show it!!! I just dont understand how someone can lie to you about it, everyone says i should get a lawyer about the 1st surgeon, but is it something i really want to go through???
The doctors will not prescribe me anything strong for pain meds. i have been oon hydrocodone 500/500 for the past year and half, and i telll them its making my stomach upset, so they prescribe me tramadol 50mg [what the hellll is that going too do, they dont even get rid of my migranes] and robaxin, well i was off the hydrocodonee foor about a month and just recently started taking them agaiin and there giving me massive headaches. Im callling tomorrow to telll office but i doubt they'lll do anything. They look at me different bc of my age like im a drug seeking patient, and im not in for that i really only take them when i need them. I'lll probablly have to be on pain meds the rest of my life becausee of my problems. How can i go about talking to docs about it? I havee crappy government insurance and they wont cover pain management and i dont have $1000 to give to the docs for some pain meds. I just want too be comfortable in my own homee and im not.
Sleeping has been really hard, all i do is toss and turn, kick and throw my arms and legs, it takes over an hour to falll asleep. Some days are betterr than others but most of its bad!!!
I havee been looking into fibromalgyia and alot of my other health problems kinda work into somee of them, but if you even mention it to a doctor here your red flagged as a DRUG SEEKER!!!!
Welll here are some things i neeed to knoow that i cant get doctors to tell me.

1. What am i going to be facing in future?? wheelchair? permanment probllems?
2. bone fusion surgeries and how it effects the life after surgery?
3. Do you think i will be approved for disability if i keeep pursueing it?
4. Things that help with the stiffness and loss of movement?
5. Can me limping cause problems in my hip and knee's?? They kill me, they hurt so bad.

well hopefullly some of my ?'s can be answered and get some advice!!! I greatly appreciate you guys taking the time to read my story, well part of it!!!
Thanks,
Brittany

Hello Brittany....Sorry to see that you're in so much pain.Being as young as you are, my guess is that your age group are probably the least properly pain medicated age group no matter how much you hurt. It's not fair.My advice is to keep plugging along and see as many different Dr.'s as you can afford until you run into one that is willing to do their job and make your pain managable. You are not a drug seeker if you are looking for relief from legitimate chronic pain.I hope things start looking up for you and may God Bless you.Take care....................Rod
