Hi all. I'm looking for a recipe that was posted here eons ago that helps counteract the effects of pain meds on your intestines. For the life of me, I can't remember what's it called, but I do know that I copied it off of this forum.

For the first time in a very, very long time, I've had to resort to pain meds on a daily basis and unfortunately, it has made my chronic, severe C worse. I have been without my regular med's for over 3 months since I was laid off from my job in mid-May and it's caught up to me in a big way. Thankfully, I start a new job soon and will once again have insurance to get my med's. I (blessedly) had forgotten just how bad things could be without them. What a wake up.smhair

I really appreciate your help with the recipe - if someone can remember what it is!

:-)

Hi Starr!

I'm sorry to hear you're feeling so awful but at least there is hope of getting your meds soon. I can't remember anything about the recipe but will do some digging and see if I can help you find it.

Wish me luck,

Hey Chutzie! You were the one that pointed me to the recipe - for some reason Yakima comes to mind (or, I could be losing my mind) and it had fruit in it. I think I was a mod and a bunch of us were all in the chat room and we were talking about the effects of pain med's and such - has to be at least 1-1/2 years ago.

I appreciate your help, but don't worry if it doesn't show up. It's not critical, just helpful! Hope you're doing as well as can be. Thanks so much.

Hi, starrnr. I'm afraid I can't help you with any snazzy recipes, but have you tried Miralax? My doc prescribed it, but you can get it without a prescription. It does also have a generic, so you can get it for a bit less $$. It is the best and most natural feeling stuff I've ever used. It doesn't give you any of the severe results you get from some other things. You just mix a little in with any beverage you normally drink. You cannot taste it or even tell it's there!

I have had issues with the "big C" for my whole life and since my injury the medication has just exacerbated the issue. This is the first time in my life I've felt comfortable in that department. I would highly recommend at least giving it a try.

Hi Ry, Miralax doesn't work for me. I do have a "cocktail" of sorts that usually works, but the pain meds have totally slowed my system to a crawl and nothing seems to be helping. I appreciate your suggestion though - I do recommend Miralax to others who have problems and it seems to work for them. I'm trying to avoid the more harsher stuff (not Miralax) to get things moving...

Thanks.
