My Docs wanted to switch me from Morphine and Roxicodone to Methadone. I have heard so many good and bad things about it that I have been reluctant. I have heard that it does block other stronger narcotics, so what if its not working and I take something for breakthrough and it blocks it? The Drs. say that once you get your dose right that won"t happen. I not sure who to believe. Anyone have any thoughts?

Hi pvnspain...

I've not heard of that but then again I'm just a member here like everyone else and not a professional in the field of pain management. I'd sure be doing my homework before I switched pain meds. Is the one you were using still working for you? Why does he want to switch? Is he afraid of law suits? Learn all you can and remember....YOU are hiring him for advice. If you feel he's not taking care of you properly or you totally disagree with his ideas you are free to switch. After all...if you hired a mechanic who totally messed up your car, I'm sure you'd fine that person in a heartbeat! Your health is way more important than any car I've even seen...lol

Hope something in this helps you,
Chutzie

Chutzie has some very good advice.
Sometimes I make a comment and people might read it
and think I know what the hay I'm talking about.
I guess I want to say: I'm just bumbling around in
my own pain troubles. I'll say how it is for me. You
say how it is for you. Maybe we'll get a consensus!
You think?
Pamela :-)

if you start taking methdone it wont interfere with any of your painkillers, but it is very addicting and you will have withdrawls if you just stop taking it
