Good day all...

Where is the farthest you have ever been away from home? Did you get homesick?

For me that would be on the 'other coast'. I live in Washington state and have been to the east coast twice. The first time I was 16 and on a 3 week trip with a bunch of other high school kids. We were on a history tour and Wow was I homesick!

But the next time was when I was over 40 and it was just my future hubby and me. Could have stayed and traveled forever...ok, not quite but I was so content and we had so much fun together touring around the back roads from upstate NY to Maine. Will go back one day.

The farthest I have been is the other coast as well.  My husbands family lives in Idaho and Washington State.  We had a beautiful week and the coast was terrific, but I'm a Florida girl and even though we were there in July, I had to wear a sweatshirt.  Oh and I have never felt water as cold as when I put my toe in the water shocked bbbrrr! I'm used to the nice warm Gulf of Mexico.

I live in Michigan and the furthest I have traveled was to Florida. It was my honeymoon and was I homesick?? Oh heck no! It was in the middle of winter here in Michigan so even though it snowed in Florida (first time in 20 years there) it was still a heck of lot warmer then Michigan! :) Now it depends if I get homesick. Sometimes if I am feeling horrible but go on vacation anyway, I can't wait to get back to the comfort of my home. But regardless of being homesick or not, it's always nice to come home.

OMG Red you were in Florida back when it snowed in 89? I remember that Christmas. I was only 5 but I remember playing in the little snow we did have.

LOL yes! That is exactly when it happened :) There wasn't a lot of snow but me and the hubby joked that only WE could bring the snow with us from Michigan!  We were on our way to St. Augustine and his grandparents were teasing us about it too.  We stayed in Flagler Beach with his grandparents.

The farthest I have been was Tulum, Mexico in the state of Quintana Roo. I loved it and want to go back. I have been there 3 times,

First Time : spent Hurricane Emily with some great people down there
Second Time : stayed at a resort and loved it.
Third time : Honeymoon - was sick as a dog the whole 9 days but I loved it anyways. We ended up at a "clothing optional" resort because the one we reserved was overbooked and they offered us a huge room upgrade, some free spa services and money off our bill to move and you know what, I would do it again any time! (I did keep my swim wear on however..)

Take care,

In the United States today, there is a pervasive tendency to treat children as adults, and adults as children. The options of children are thus steadily expanded, while those of adults are progressively constricted. The result is unruly children and childish adults. ~Thomas Szasz

I lived in Malibu California while growing up. We went to Ambergris Key. It is a tiny island and is part of Belize. I never got homesick when we went to visit the islands. I just never wanted to get home so soon.
When I married I moved to Orlando Florida. I was so homesick I think I never came out of the house much. I was there when it snowed in 89 I was about to pop out a baby and the power was going off and on because of brown outs. Made it hard to cook Thanksgiving dinner.
Well I did divorce my first husband after 16 years of abuse. I moved to be close to my parents who retired in a small town in Idaho. The town is Glenns Ferry and I remarried the man of my dreams 8 years ago. If I have to leave home without him I am always homesick. Best to everyone...........Okonner

The furthest I have been is New York. I was home sick because my hubby and I was stranded in New York for two days.

Farthest away from home I went was Kansas with hubby. Was very homesick for my mountains, so I do not know how I am going to handle not being able to look out my windows and see the majestic mountains of Wyoming every morning. But I think that the plains of Kansas will be a refreshing change and I will adjust quite well.
