I had a diagnosis about 5 years ago of cervical stenosis in C3 and C4 but they never really did anything about it. Well, my neck pain has been getting worse and I have started having trouble holding on to things and convincing my feet to move when I want them to so my doctor agreed to do another MRI on my neck. Wish me luck that things have not gotten worse over the years and with my constant abuse (use) on my body.

Hopefully we can find some answers and get a good plan going to keep me going.

I hope everyone is having a great day! Happy FRIDAY!

I have Cervical Stenosis and Scoliosis at C3 & 4.
I've had it 6 1/2 years.
I used to worry about it a lot.
I have realized that worry doesn't help.
I can hold on to things.
Sometimes I have trouble walking but that problem comes from my tail bone.
It started partly as a result of an accident.
I never know whether it's better to keep my head up and build muscle.
Or maybe I should lay down and rest it when it feels bad.
A lot of times I have no choice in this matter.
What do you do to "abuse" your neck?
Rose, I wish you the best.
Let us know what the doctor says.
Maybe he will tell you to do water therapy.
I've tried that but it hurts my entire spine.
I went to a BIG teaching hospital. The doctor there recommended surgery.
I didn't go for it. Most other doctors I saw agreed with me.

Well the butthead insurance company denied the MRI so I won't be getting one for another 3-6 months while my doc and I "try" PT. Luckily she is not forcing me to go since I have already been many times. I am going to take the issue up with my PM doc and see what he can do. Maybe he can push for it to happen before then.

by the way, insurance companies suck!

Ekkrose,
I'm in definite agreement about insurance companies, although I guess we'd be much worse without them. And since I might end up in that group I should keep my mouth shut!!

My neck and shoulder have started acting up (i've had cervical problems for over 20 years) and I just got a new pillow and had my hair cut and both have helped. They don't cure the problem, just help manage it. I let my hair grow quite long mostly because hair cuts are expensive, but I forget that it can get very heavy. So I had it clipped back to shoulder length and what a difference! But the pillow is the main thing. I found one I love but they wear out in a few months. Fortunately they're not terribly expensive, but any amount of $$ is a challenge for me now.

That TERRIBLE about your insurance company -- Arghhhh!

Your doctor might write a letter to the insurance company to fight for you -
and then again, he or she might not.

I've been to PT three times. Each time I came out worse. On top of that,
there's the getting ready to go. The $$ & Riding in the car is so painful for me.
It takes me one day to mentally prepare to go. One day to go and the
next day to recover.

Keep us informed. I sometimes think I need another MRI. Problem with that
is: If I have an MRI, I might HAVE to have surgery. I don't want surgery.

PaLady, see the beginning on a thread regarding pillows. I think it's
important and I'm confused about you and your pillows. Tomorrow I'm
going to start a thread on HAIR. (Or you do?)
