OK, everyone, here's the scoop... I'm sure many of you remember fondly the days when we were lounging carefree on the beach, watching the hot-balloon races, and trying to keep the pets from eating up all the chocolate from the hot tubs. If you weren't around for those "good ol' days" I'd highly recommend a quick search through the forum for the Beach Party Thread. Read it. It'll be worth it. I promise. But I digress...

Well, as you know we have PaLady to thank for maintaining the party atmosphere on the beach front for all those weeks - quick! three cheers for PaLady! smhair smhair smhair When the party came to an end, she most graciously offered to pass the torch, and we all put on our thinkin' caps... rolleyes confused eyes Right. OK. Then one day, FINALLY... idea The next party thread has arrived! YAY! smilewinkgrin

Here is the plan for our new thread…

As the holidays approach I got to thinking how much I wish I could send some special (or maybe some really entertaining) little gifts to the special friends I’ve come to know here in this forum. So this is our new “virtual gift giving” thread! Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukah, or just want to give a gift to someone for no particular reason – this is the place to do it! Be creative! Be funny! Be encouraging! Be silly! (But be appropriate nono – we have permission for the thread so long as it stays above the line!)

Have fun, friends. Let the love-fest begin…
smilewinkgrin
Ry

(Let's do one person per post so everyone gets to feel special. Please don't hesitate to give virtual gifts to lots of folks - I just think it will be fun to start a new reply for each of them.)

OK, I'm going to kick things off with a VERY special gift to my buddy PaLady...

PaLady, this may bring tears to your eyes - have tissues ready!

I am sending you a virtual gift of a life-time supply of M&Ms in a dazzling array of colors (so that you may eat whichever suits your mood at the moment).

I am giving a virtual gift to my pal, ryand. I send to you a beautiful red blouse with black and gold trim and a matching floor length skirt for the holidays. You will look so festive and wonderful. I can't wait to see the virtual pictures of you all dressed up. Much love comes with my gift to you.

<--putting on my red sequined shoes & crown. I'm skipping down the yellow
road wildly waving my wand. I am the good witch Glenda who blew magically
into Cyberland I am looking around in order to grant surprises. I have
connections with the Wizard.

I see PaLady! I must stop and do business. I will ask her if she will accept
a totally cyber job. The job pays a dollar a word for her work on the forum -
Hel, lets make it $10.00 a word. Will she accept?

Glenda becomes Pamela who wishes to thank PaLady for a wondrous gift.

THANK YOU NOTE

Dear stkitt,
Thank you for bringing over the Getting To Know You fun quiz. While
I was doing the quiz (or reading it) my mind totally directed off my pain.
Distraction is a mighty thing. I've been taking puffs on a cigarette to
distract lately. I think the quiz is better for me.

Pamela,
I gladly accept your generous job offer!! yeah Sure will ease my worries!! smilewinkgrin

Thank you!!
PaLady

p.s. Ry - M&M's are highly addictive. And mischevious. I think they are the Wilson's in disguise. I have a research project in the works trying to assess which color tastes better. I'll let you know when the project concludes. smhair rolleyes

PaLady

As far as I can tell both red and green are nuts under their colorful hard-shell
candy coating.

The Wilsons in disguise? Hmmmmm? I never knew the Wilsons well but
I support your research project. I will withhold my vote until I've had
a taste of Mr. & Mrs. Wilson.

Thank you PaLady for the wonderful fabric offer. My creative juices are a flowing. Now for you my dear lady, I offer you pain pills that look like m &m'a but they actually work on the pain and allow you to do whatever your heart desires. There's a year's supply so go have a ball. I will think of another present for you shortly, once my mind gets to working too.

Love ya,

Ahem...

I think I am learning something from my research project. idea It MAY be possible for one to eat too many M&M's. smhair

Now I wouldn't have thought this at first, but my stomach and other "sections" of my body I think are trying to communicate with me. shocked And perhaps I shouldn't buy any more M&M's for awhile. yeah It seems I have no restraint in the wee hours of the morning, so kttn I will try your gift of sleep soon...if I can get myself to get under the covers earlier!!
smilewinkgrin

And for any of you who are also in COLDER areas of the planet, I send WARMTH although it's definitely my virtual version, as I've got none of the real thing! I'd take some, though! Maybe Lindaloo can make me one of those blankets with sleeves in it in some pretty color - maybe a patchwork?

I was thinking....if Ry is interested, maybe we could have a party one night to exchange our virtual gifts??

For Linda -
Your own personal Latin chef for a year. He will make you whatever you want, teach you to make stuff when you want to learn how to make something or voraciously suck down all the leftovers whenever you yourself feel up to cooking.

For PALady -
One of those concept cars that can drive itself. I would make sure it has a sleeping compartment for longer trips complete with a top of the line mattress & an excellent water pillow. I think maybe something like the luxury version of "Kitt" from Knight Rider. It would be sociable & could drive around town & pick up friends and bring them to you when needed. :)

Enjoy. I'm off to meet with the elves to dream up some more fun little presents.

I'm sending you a special book. After you take your 8 hours of sleep, have a healthy
breakfast and then open up the magic book before you start your day. It will be a book
of Spring. You will smell the sweet peas & carnations, hear the birds tweeter,
feel the morning sun & soft breeze on your face. It is, of course, priceless!
I don't know where you live but for some this would come in handy. I have more
if anyone wants one.

With the holydaze coming upon us I'd like to wish you a personal shopper.
Someone to buy you three beautiful outfits and introduce you to colors you've
never seen. The outfits will be enhanced by stilletos which will be absolutely
heaven to wear to an event. You may not wear them often... but just for the
evening. The diamonds will last forever, of course.

For everyone,

A free, all expenses paid week long trip for you and a guest to whatever destination you choose. Whether it be relaxing on a warm beach, listening to the waves lap the shore, or sitting in a log cabin next to a cozy fireplace, nestled in the snowy woods of the north, your vacation will be perfect - what you've always dreamed of. It will be the most relaxing escape you've ever experienced -- gosh knows we CP suffers need to relax & de-stress! And did I mention, you will be instantly transported (like in star trek) to your dream destination so you don't have to go through the hassle of getting from place A to place B, nor suffer any pain in the process?! Enjoy! And send me a postcard smilewinkgrin

For PAlady,

One of the cat-shaped rice heating bags in whatever kitty color you choose. And when you get lonely, this special gift has the ability to come to life. It can be transformed into a live, playful, loving kitty companion. No care necessary.

For Skeye:
I'm taking my castle by the sea vacation. Maybe Hearst Castle in California. Wooooweeeee.
All the tourists would have to leave. I'd invite all the forum people. We'd have a conference
room where we could talk it out in total comfort that you have bestowed on us. There would be
plenty of room. It's a short walk to one of California's most beautiful beaches. What else for Mr.
Hearst?

and for you, skeye, I wish 20/20 for your life time.

I have a lot of catching up to do here!

To start...for Frances....

A trip around the world to visit each continent! Wherever you like. Visiting all your friends! yeah
And a stop will be made in Hawaii so you can visit an active volcano (at a safe distance, of course), and listen to all of your favorite sounds! :-)

Skeye - thank you for the cat! I'll take an orange and white tabby! I am now meditating on your gift!

And I'm giving EVERYONE a ride in my new concept car! You can all rest on the tempurpedic, and open the sun roof and look at the stars at night. And we will have champagne and chocolate covered strawverries! smilewinkgrin

Pamela,
I just love my new garb.
We ladies will have to get together for a night out on the town. I guess PALady has offered to drive. How fun! :)

I think my gift for you will be an editor & publicist to take all you great writings & ideas and put them into a book -- or maybe a series of books.

Enjoy!
