Deb, at last, oh this is great news, although like you say what about the other three yrs of your life. But, take it and try to get on with your life the best you can. Look at how long your life has been in limbo and on hold due to no funds. I cannot for the life of me explain SS but they seem to like to come up with their own dates as to when disability began on most cases. By that time the person is just glad to get approved something they just don't care. Kind of like being afraid to rock the boat so to speak. Anyway, hooray for you gal. Susie

Congratulations, Deb! You're right - it shouldn't take so long. But I'm glad you're finally getting what you deserve.

Kitty,
Can I ask how you qualified? I was told I had to be out of work for 12 months straight in order to qualify. Did you find some loophole? If so, maybe you could share it. I know I could benefit & I'm sure others could as well.

Deb- Congrats on finally getting something! I'll keep my fingers crossed that you can somehow get some of those back years too. Hopefully this is a sign of better times to come. :)

Frances, the 12 month rule is your disability is expected to last 12 months, if not permanently. Now, they will approve you and start paying after you have been off 6 months. They changed this up some time back. Use to they did not pay a dime until you had been off a year, which was horrible for people. I would go into the SS site and look up migraines to see what qualifications you have to meet under SS. If a dr worded his report right you shouldn't have trouble. I assume they look at how often the migraines happen, how well you respond to meds, ect. I use to get them really bad and my neurologist would hospitalize me overnight and give me a medication thru an IV. I would leave work at 5:00 and go straight to the hospital. Unfortunately, both of my children inherited these monsters from me. My son has them horribly and really struggles. He is 34 and they started on him at the age of 8. Susie
