Hope all is as peaceful for you as possible today. For me upheaval can increase pain and so can illness. I currently have the latest "share the family" cold that's doing the rounds. First oldest grandson (17), then the twin grandsons (9), then hubby and now me. I'm at about 6 days now so should hit bottom soon but when I'm miserable I want "comfort food". Anyone else understand what I mean???? Ahh, comeon now...I know you do. We all have those foods that we need when we feel rotten. For hubby it's homemade beef barley soup or my chicken soup. That's fine for me but I hit the carbs! Those are the LAST things I need cause carbs are always better if they're sweet...yikes! smhair Cereal, bread, toast and jam, mashed potatoes, you get the picture.

So, what's your favorite comfort food? Cold and flu season is upon us so I'm doing you a favor here. Stock up before you get it!...lol BTW, has everyone gotten their flu shot this year? This year's sirum seems to be very painless as compared to other years. I actually did not even feel when she gave it to me. No excused, unless you just have a moral issue with them...but those of us with health issues really do need to take this seriously. Flu is dangerous. OK, enough mothering...lol

I completely know what you mean, Chutz!

I love these potato boats that my mother & grandmother make -- mashed potatoes stuck back in the skin, baked with a layer of cheddar cheese on top, yummmm. It is the perfect comfort food, and so nice and warm and smooth that its easy to eat even with a sore throat. Chicken-noodle soup & bread are good too! Yay carbs!

I most certainly did get the flu shot! The last thing I need, the last thing any of us needs, is to be sick on top of all this pain, and even if I didn't have pain issues, who wants to risk getting sick, ick!

Colds are the worst, they never seem to end & make you perfectly miserable. I hope you feel better soon, Chutz!

Homemade chicken noodle soup is always a good stand-by
but what I really love are either (1) my mom's chicken & rice dish b/c it's all ooey-gooey with cream of mushroom soup, cream of chicken soup & dry chicken noodle soup mix stirred into the rice OR (2) my grandma's pot roast & stovetop rice made with cream of mushroom soup -- yummy!

oh man, now I'm hungry!
I've got a cold too, Chutzie so I feel for you. This is my second one of the season & I'm not even working right now so I probably must have caught it from the mailman or something. lol
So pathetic -- I can't lie down b/c my nose is all stopped up & bleedy from me keep blowing it all the time, but I'm miserable sitting up b/c it bothers my back. Oh, so sad. I really do need to cook up some yummy, happy foods.

Hope you feel better too. Maybe your hubby can whip you up a batch of that chicken noodle soup & serve it with a side of cereal, toast & mashed potatoes. ;) lol - oh for happier days to come.

peace,
frances
