Hi,
Thought I'd give you a heads up that Congress is extending unemployment for another 7 weeks, and possibly up to 13 weeks if you live in a state that has at least 6% unemployment. PA's unemployment rate, last I knew, was 5.8, but that was a month or so ago.

Whew! yeah A reprieve, for a short time at least! :-)

Hi PALady,

Thanks so much for the information! That's great news for me and many others! Mine just ended recently and I still have no luck getting  a new job. I guess it doesn't help when I have a limp, that always makes me wonder. But then again, I've sent out probably hundreds of resumes, and gotten only a few calls. Seems like there are literally hundreds of applications for every job. Many companies don't even look at all of them. I hope the extension kicks in soon! I live in NJ and the most recent news was the unemployment rose here to 6%. I think it will go up more being I heard severel of the drug companies here (there are lots of them) are planning on laying of thousands more people. Thanks again for letting me know this!!

I remembered you and I were in kind of a similar position - having had our extended unemployment run out recently, and with health issues plus the job market...well, enough said. Add to that it's brutally cold with a ton of snow here already! Shoveling - which I had to do yesterday - sure doesn't help. This is a really early start to winter. Yuck.

For some reason I thought you were also in PA but NJ is close enough! With the last extension of benefits, I know I had to receive a letter first from PA saying I was eligible, and then it was a week or two after that before I could actually sign on. I sure hope it can kick in before Christmas.

Ohhh, that's right! I'm sorry, I totally forgot about that. Yea, this cold is awful and the wind is bone-chilling, I can't stand the wind. However, I don't have snow here to shovel yet...thank god! Though I'm sorry you had to shovel, I'm sure it's probably aggravating your pain.

Yes, I do remember with the last extension having to receive that letter, though at that time, the timing of it worked perfectly for me. I guess I might miss a couple weeks in between this time. But anything helps until I find a job.
