When ever I get a test done I call the film library where I got it taken and get a copy as soon as they say it is released. That way I know (kinda) what it says and I don't have to wait in fear for xx days. Plus then I have a copy for my records.

Hysterectomy at 25

4 laproscopic surgeries since 24

Cervical stenosis in C3 & C4

In the United States today, there is a pervasive tendency to treat children as adults, and adults as children. The options of children are thus steadily expanded, while those of adults are progressively constricted. The result is unruly children and childish adults. ~Thomas Szasz

i most always ask for a copy to be sent to me, however, there is a policy with SOME tests (and MRI's are among them) that at least with providers and hospitals I've used they won't send the results to you for about 10 days. They want to make sure your doctor has had a chance to tell you the results first. But like you ekkrose, I like to read the report and get an idea of what the conclusion is. Even if I don't understand it, it helps me prepare for what I want to ASK my doc when I get in for the visit.

Back when I used to pick up films (before CD's and such) the report used to be inside the films, and I'd gently open the envelope and make a copy of the report. Afterall, it's my report, my body. Now I pick up a copy of the CD. I did find out if I wait a day or so the report can be included on the CD (I had to pay for an extra copy of the CD). Then you supposedly can upload the whole thing on your home computer. That is if you have PC. I have a Mac and it didn't work. These are just a few ideas!

We CPers know the waiting game all too well....but it still sux!  The good news is that the results are what they are no matter when you get them...So, enjoy Thanksgiving as much as possible and remember that we are all right there with you in spirit....
