smhair   smhair I wanted to worn every body that has back pain if you have had any kind of surgery even just lancing a boil that if you have a incress of pain(alot not just a little)dont just pass it of as a flare up of old pain. This happened to me and that is what I thought it was. What it turned out to be was a infection in my back called discitis this is a very bad infection. Most people are very sick by the time thay find out that thay have it.I was lucky My surgen sent me for a MRI. because he felt that I should not still be having so hard of a time to walk and because my pain was getting worse not better. This kind of infection can setle anywere in your body but it likes areas that have been damaged before. It can kill you.For anyone who has watched DR.G medical examaner or medical mistery thay have had cases on both of these showes with the same kind of infection. It takes 3 to 6 months of IV antibiotics to clear this up.I dont want to worry you but it happened to me it could happen to you. smhair smhair

So you got some answers, Mom? Although maybe not what you wanted to hear? I'm curious. Other than pain, what other symptoms did you have?

I hope the antibiotics help and that you start feeling better soon. At least now you've got some treatment underway.

Thanks for the heads up, Mom! Pain should decrease after surgery and if it keeps increasing it's smart to check with your doc. Good advice that I had never thought about.

Thanks,

Thank you for your concern.I have been done with my anti-biotics for about 6 weeks so I am feeling better. But every time I have a few days that are high pain days it makes me worry because the DR. worned me that it might come back. Also because I hade surgery agein after I was done with my meds.PAlady the pain was the only symptom that I had.Thay did catch it early.I had to have blood work every week,My white blood count was never high and that is the way it is for most people but a few do get a high white blood count.Mostly what thay watched for is a thing called serate(sp.???) level it can masure the inflamation in your body.Once it gets real bad you can have a high fever. One of my DR. told me that I was lucky that most the people she had seen with it were so bad by the time thay learned what was wrong with them thay had to be hospitalised.
