I know we've had several of these threads lately, complaining about being insomniacs due to pain. But I need to vent. It's so frustrating! My doc had me increase my ambien, as it hadn't really been doing much for me. I took it, well, lets see...3 hrs ago! Still wide awake, still in pain, and now I feel nauseous too from the sleeping pill, wonderful. And my doc said that I absolutely have to get up at a reasonable time in the morning (none of this falling asleep at 5 am or later, and then sleeping till 12:30 or 1pm), or it's going to screw my body up even more. I agree with him, but I hardly get any sleep as it is. And what sleep I do get is of pretty poor quality. I guess there are going to be lots of completely sleepless nights ahead for me. What a wonderful thing to look forward to.

Skeye,
I guess I just missed you. Oh, whatever will we do with ourselves? shakehead
Your doctor could have been talking to me. It's so hard to force myself to bed when there's really nothing to get up for most mornings. sad

And.....I'm out of M&M''s! smhair I'll have to rectify that situation soon. At least they're not what's keeping me awake.

I don't know much about the ambien. I wonder if you'll need time to adjust to the new dose? We can hope! yeah

Sweet dreams....or fantasies. BTW I think I'm on a first name basis with the overnight newscasters!

Oh no! Not the m&m's!! smilewinkgrin

I don't know too much about ambien either. We have been playing with ambien CR for the last couple of weeks, with not much luck. So he has me playing with regular ambien as well as regular ambien & ambien CR together. But yet, here I am, still up at 4 am, now having taken the ambien four hours ago.

Well, I'm off to try to sleep again. I have to try to make myself get up at 9 am, no matter what.
Sweet dreams to you too PAlady!

Chiming in at 3:13am girls! Ack why does it have to be so hard to fall asleep? I went to sleep at a reasonable hour (10pm) but dang if I didn't wake up at 1:49am in gobs of pain and patiently waited once more to take my pain meds.

*sighs*

I am over weight, pushing 300lbs again GRRRRR! I have this dag nab apnea thing going on. I get up every hour to pee because my plumbing is messed up from my pc surgery. I'm not complaining, lots of guys in my shoes wear diapers. I think I've slept about 9 hours in the last 3 days total. Since I get up at 4:00am est for work I try to go to bed by 11:00pm but when I have to get up, my body hurts so bad, I don't want to lay down again. Anyone else have this problem? If I am in bed too long, the pain is awful, I have to get up and stretch / hobble around. I must make an apt. for a sleep apnea dr. I think I may not wake up some day. My wife will not sleep in the same room as me anymore, she says she can stand the snoring but can't stand when I stop breathing. It keeps her up as she says she's afraid I may not start again and she keeps waking me. Like I said in a post yesterday, I'm so sick of doctors. But I guess I better "get er done" call the doc! Thanks for the shoulder for fatso to cry on as usual!!

Got a couple of hours. Fell asleep around 5:30am and woke up at 7am then headed for bed (I sleep on the couch all night so as not to disturb hubby) and fell back to sleep at 8am and woke up at 9:30am. God I feel like a cat!!!! Anyone got milk!? *stretches and purrssss* Two hours here....an hour here...45 min here.....15 min here....god does it ever end??????

Last night it was asleep at 10:30 awake at 1:00 in horrible pain. Bath of hot water and bubbles which woke my butt up cause the dang yellow lab decided to put his cold nose on my neck eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!!!!!!!!!!! Stayed awake after that until 5:30. Thought gee might as well make coffee about 4am and laid there petting my chocolate lab who decided to cuddle up to mommy and laid there watching a stupid movie that pretty much didn't make any sense.

P.S. Ohhh by the way.....anyone ever fall asleep with a glass in their hand and have it fall over filling the bed with water? hahahahahaha I did this morning. Thought I peed the bed!!!! Laughter coming from KS

Wow, this seems to be a very common problem among us. What y'all are writing could be me writing about myself> again! We have more in common no matter what kind of pain we are suffering from. Lack of Sleep, Depression, weight gain, that worthlesss feeling? Can You think of any others? I'm sure there are a lot more things we have in common.
YES Scarred, I have fell asleep with a glass. Now I only use those plastic bottles even though they will wet your bed just as bad as a glass, they don't hit the floor and shatter! I fall asleep on the john all the time, yes I sit to pee, we prostate guys are told to by our Uro's. It's easier to get it all out and also keep it off the floor! Sometimes I wake up on the john and my legs are so asleep, I can't get up! It's almost humorus sitting there thinking, How am I going to do this? It gets to be such a struggle that I completely wake up and thats it for whatever is left of the night.
Your Sleepy Buddy,
Pete

I don't know whether to laugh or cry..I think I try to do both at the same time. I will not give you my night and morning and early afternoon schedule from today becasue I can't remember them! shocked

All I know is up and down, snow. Bathroom. Lights on. Lights off. Noises (mice and friends). Me yelling at mice and friends. Up again. TV. Bathroom. Computer. More snow outside. Back to bed. Up. Looking outside and avoiding going out to shovel snow but must get to mailbox to see if my percocet script is in there.

PALady, you know what I love about you? You are so witty- I love it! (and I was voted wittiest in my sr hs class) so I KNOW witty! lol. I know we all have groundhog day syndrome....... bathroom, bed, pills, book, bathroom, computer, bed, maybe one more pill, tv- nothing on after 3, book, sequal, bathroom.... can't pee!, bed.
You hit the nail on the head. We need IM so we can all chat while we are awake. Hope you guys got some zzzs.
Pete, my husband & I don't sleep together because he freaks me out in his sleep. He thrashes all over the bed, and hes a big boy, too. 6'3, 275. He also has breathing issues & I made him tell our PCP. So he has to see a pulmonologist for a sleep study. (He snores loudly too) But I snore too. Sad cause we are newlyweds...... we have our eye on the massive sleep number when he's all fixed & we can sleep together again.

Kttn -
You have no idea how much you perked me up with your comment! Most people wouldn't say that about me; I usually get told I'm too academic, too "heady" (which I can be!). So thank you for making my day - even if it may become another Groundhog Day! smilewinkgrin

I was ROFL as I kept coming back to the computer and watched as we missed eachother. But it was like we all had a time clock and kept punching in! rolleyes

Of course, my percocet script was not in today's mail, but I'm stretching the few I have left because they may have to last the weekend. In the meantine, I'm going to the store to get the next best thing - a fresh bag of M&M's!!! yeah

Hope you and your hubby can find a way to cuddle again!!

OK, I have clearly been missing the boat here. confused My nightly routine of late has just been "up and down, snow. Bathroom. Lights on. Watching the clock hands and wishing they would move to warp speed. Lights off. Noises (I think just mice here). Me yelling at mice. Up again. TV. Meds - FINALLY! More snow outside. Back to bed. Wincing and crying because meds haven't kicked in yet. Up - gave up on sleeping. Looking outside and avoiding going out to shovel snow." Eerily similar to PAlady's and Kttn's but obviously forgetting that I could be including the COMPUTER! idea DUH! turn

I'm thinking I'm going to pull up my bag of M&Ms (that's right PAlady - if you can't find 'em anymore it's 'cuz I've started having them delivered straight from the factory!) and my computer and join the night owl thread! You guys are loads of fun!

Hey, Skeye - thanks for asking after me in your other thread, btw. I'm doing a little better now. I had a bit of a health set-back unrelated to my back issues, and I'm just catching back up now. But it's good to be back among you all. It's so kind of you to say you were thinking of me.

PAlady - I know you had to switch pharmacies, so you might not trust yours enough yet to explore this, but I had a pleasant surprise this month with my percocet prescription and it made me think of you. I usually pick mine up every month, and this month I called the doc's office as usual and requested the refill. They usually call me back and leave a message when it is ready to be picked up, but this time they said that they had mailed the prescription last week - to the pharmacy! I was confused, so I called the pharmacy... Well, last month they started me on an "auto-refill" program since I have so many different scripts. I just figured that couldn't possibly include the percocet since it was a controlled script and also technically a PRN med even though I take it on a schedule now. But it seems they DID include it. So THEY called the doctor FOR me and had, in fact, gotten it in the mail the very same day I called.

Anyway, I'm going to have to monitor this for a few months to be sure the process works, but I also have a private pharmacy close by that I trust. I know you don't have the same situation right now. But I do wonder if they could mail the script directly to the pharmacy for you. Maybe that would save you some days in situations like this? It might be worth exploring.

OK, everyone. I'm off to start the cycle for the evening! LOL

Ry,
So great to see you posting again! We missed you! You (and anyone else) are certainly more than welcome to join our Late Late Late Show cast. smilewinkgrin I'm also glad to know I'm not the only one who yells at mice in the middle of the night! shocked
Ya know, that might just be one of the symptoms of Groundhog Day Syndrome (GDS). But I think we'd better not advertise that! wink

Deb you definitely win the prize for the cheapest M&M's! yeah The Christmas ones are all gone where I looked (wonder why??) but the Valentine ones are out. However, the biggest bag is on sale at my local grocery store and there was only one bag of milk chocolates left and now I know why!! (Ahem - Ry!!) So I had to buy a bag of dark chocolates. That's so I could offer you all a choice when we finally get Kttn's movie theater going. tongue

Ry - the pharmacy unfortunately is located in the hospital. I have to use it because that's who my insurance is with, but my COBRA runs out in June so I figure it's not worth setting up any kind of system. I'd never use them They're only open M-F 7am-4pm!!!! And if I get a script filled after 4pm or on a weekend I can only get a 15 day supply, and it's a higher co-pay!! Oh....don't get me started! mad

Time to open that new bag.... turn

See ya all later!

Glad to hear I wasn't alone (how could I be? we all seem to be the world's worst insomniacs!)! As Pete & Ry & others have said, it is eerie to think how similar our nighttime schedules are!! I'm up down & all around as well! No one in my family understands how I can never get to sleep. Saw my doc yesterday & I was hoping he would send me for a sleep study or something, because I think I have something else going on in addition to all the pain issues keeping me up and waking me up at night (and he agrees), but alas he did not. I guess I'll be playing with the ambien (which seems to be a joke for me) for a while longer. Haven't taken it yet tonight, as I know that I'm in too much pain at the moment to get any sleep.

Ry, I'm glad to see you back & to hear that you are doing a little better, at least with your unrelated issues!

Scarred, your post made me crack up! We are kind of like cats, except for the fact that they seem to sleep most of the day. turn Sometimes I actually get jealous of my animals & how they can sleep, sleep, sleep at the drop of a hat!

I was at Walmart today -- I just switched to their pharmacy since it is drastically cheaper than the mom & pop type pharmacy that I have used for years and we can't afford our old pharmacy any more, with our new insurance plan -- and I saw all the Valentines candy out. I was so tempted to buy some, but I still have a handful or two of Christmas M&M's left and I figure I should finish those first, before I turn to the pretty pink ones, as I know I'd eat the new ones first smilewinkgrin.

I think that we need to design our perfect fantasy bedroom! Nice king-sized fluffy beds that don't put any pressure on our ailing body parts. Lots of blankets & pillows so we can snuggle up, and of course, and optional heating feature in the bed, so we can warm up or soothe our aches & pains. And of course we need all the amenities nearby: tv's, computers, books, luxury bathroom complete with a hot tub, etc. smilewinkgrin

Wishing everyone a pain free, restful night!

Skeye

okay, I should have bought those new M&M's, my old ones are nice & stale turn shakehead.

Here we go again! Another night of insomnia! I've gotten oooo about 4 1/2 hours total for the night and I just don't know how I am going to function on that. As my medications slowly slip me back into my la la world I wonder if this will ever go away or weather I am stuck with this forever and will never really be able to actually sleep in my bed with my husband again. Great! Now I'm crying! Something more to keep him awake when he has such a tough week this week and has to work 7 days straight this week with no break from his job. The John Deere dealership over in Greensburg that lost its store, shop and town to an F-5 tornado two years ago is finally rebuilding slowly but surely and the new JD building is done and ready for the guys to move into. So all of Pratt and Bucklin are helping them move into their new home and hubby has to get off at 5 on Friday and head over to help move them in. Plus on Saturday he will get off at noon and go straight over from here to aide them once again and then again on Sunday.

I'm sure most of you heard about the big tornado that hit Greensburg Kansas two years ago. Well I am 30 minutes from there. Its horrible to see such devastation in one spot and I feel for those poor people that lost all their homes in this terrible disaster. Some are still living in FEMA trailers on the outskirts of town and probably will for a long time as they cannot afford to rebuild. The town wishes to go Green which is fine but not many can afford to build 300,000 dollar homes when their 1930's something home was destroyed in a tornado.

Anyway I digress. My pain has gotten worse in my legs and I fear that between the move and getting my house in order has taken its toll on my nerves. Which is probably why I can't sleep. I wake up in such tremendous pain that its horrible. I stifle the pain into the pillows and try to move but it hurts so bad and I know I must move! God I hate this. Its really scaring me that I might end up in a wheelchair before the doctors can do anything and I can't do a darn thing about it. I am watching myself go down hill so fast and not being able to do anything to stop it.

Ok said enough. Pity party over for me anyway.

Hugsss Hope you all got a better night sleep then me.
