I know this is the chronic pain section but there wasn't an RLS forum anywhere. But I do have constant pain from what a doctor said is probably RLS. For a long time I have suffered from intense uncomfortable feeling in my limbs, mostly in my legs, that seems to be alleviated when I walk. It gets worse throughout the day and at times can be very severe. My wife has also complained that I jerk my legs at night and it keeps her up. Does this sound like RLS? IF so, what treatment works best? I was put on Mirapex (.25 mg) and so far no noticable improvement though it's only been a week.

Anyone else here with severe RLS?

Welcome to HW, you will find a lot of us either has RLS, or symtoms that mimac (fibryomyagia) etc. If your dr thinks you have RLS- then you proabably do. I take Lyrica for my issues (fibryo) and Cymbalta. They both help a ton, I usually rub my legs (like walking) for a good hour before they just wear out, lol. Someone had once told me to hide a piece of soap at the end of the bed (no help for me). I have a lot of issues in my spine (injuries) that also contribute to the pain in my legs. I know its not much info, but it should help. Try talking to your dr about some samples of Lyrica if Mirapex isn't helping. It helps me a lot, I can really tell when I am out. This isn't much but I am sure there will be more people who come along who have RLS. Welcome to our community, there are some really nice people on here. :)
RX's: Oxycontin 80mg 2x's daily; Oxycodone 30mg 5xs daily; Zanaflex 4mg 3x's daily; Restoril 15mg 1x; Soma 3x's daily; Lyrica 100mg 3x's daily (pain & fibro.); Phenergan 25mg (as needed); Amitriptyline 25mg 1x (chronic pain); Cymbalta 60mg 2x's daily (pain from fibro); Abilify 5mgs at bedtime (depression); Metoclopram (as needed) & Senokot (as needed).

Thanks for your reply. My doc said it's either fibro or RLS. I'm just grateful it's not MS like some doctors said it might be. Nevertheless I'm in constant agony. I don't want to be on any opiods but I fear that if nothing else works I may have to be on it to control the pain.

Thank you. For some reason I can't get into any RLS website forums. I was hoping there would be some people on here with it.

Hi Bean and welcome to HW. You are just fine posting here, everyone is welcome to HW, restless legs do cause pain. I do want to tell you of a medication for RLS. Its called Requip and it works very well for RLS. I was having a terrible time with it, had to be heavily sedated to have some MRI's due to the leg jerks, so I can relate. Talk to your dr and let us know. Susie
