Off and on for the past week or two, when I wake up and start walking it feels like I'm walking on a bed of coals.  It's not constant and it happens usually only in the mornings so I thought hmm I should make a docs appt but I am/was in no hurry because it wasn't seriously that painful, just uncomfortable.  So now enters a new problem, I took my morning shower and used hot water.  My left hand feels like it's been scalded.  I looked at my hand and it is not red but now it's burning intensely.  I tried using a cold wash cloth but it made my hand burn worse and that made my fingers go numb.  I know that this is probably new damage and it can possibly be a sign of Hyperalgesia.  But what I need to know is am I going to do more damage by not going to the doctors right away or is this something that can wait for about 3 days?  The reason I ask is because my primary doctor doesn't work on Friday nor the weekend and if I had to be seen by a doctor, I will have to go to urgent care at my local hospital.  And even then I am not sure what they can do for me there other then tell me to go see my doc.  Wow, just as I'm typing this that burning sensation is starting to fade in my left hand *poof!* just like that.  How odddddd!  Anyway, what would you do?

Knowing me, I would wait, but of course that's not what I'm going to tell you to do!!!!! Go get it checked out or you will be a nervous wreck all weekend.

Wow, that's very strange. Does sound like some sort of nerve damage. Have you made an appointment for the first of the week? I probably would wait because I prefer my doc to ER docs. Since I don't' know what Hyperalgesia is I did a little googling...lol Just from what I read if it happened to me I'd wait, but if you are at all uncomfortable or worried then get some help right away. Don't take my advice...you know what's best for you. Just sharing my opinion.

Thanks for the replies. I am going to call my doc for an appt some time this week. If it is nerve damage, is there anything they can even do for it? I haven't had the burning hand again but when I went to take a shower the next day I was scared! lol

Edt, I have had MRI's last year - 3 to be exact and an EMG. According to the doc that did the EMG, my nerve response was a bit slower in my hands but he chalked it up to me having Raynauds which is always still a possibility as to why it was slower. The MRI's never showed anything other then two bulging/slightly herniated discs in my neck.

Of all things to go wrong, why nerves?? Isn't that the hardest thing to treat?? Let alone find?? I never did travel down the easy road!
