Hi All,
I went to my PM Doc yesterday afternoon and what Y'all were saying is true. She said No One has OXI anywhere! Does anyone know what's going on? Instead of 120 #15mg Oxi's she wrote me a script for 150 Perocet 10/325's!! Oh well, what are you going to do? As for me, I guess I'll add a little Tylonol to my diet!

Pete,
You do know percocet has tylenol in it, don't you? I wasn't sure what you meant by adding tylenol to your diet, but please don't take any extra!!

Wow, I'm really glad that I just got off of oxycodone a couple of weeks ago. I had no idea that any of this was happening... I hope they figure things out soon for the sake of everyone on oxy.

Pete, im in miami, and just ran into the same problem. I was given a script for oxy IR and thankfully my pharmisist (sp) called a bunch of other pharmacys and had it all shipped to him in one day to make enough to fill my script. Why do docs continue to prescribe it if it is no longer around??? they must know....well, hope u get relief with the percocet, they really work well for me.

OK Gang, I heard there was a recall on the Oxi's, Hmmmmm, Maybe they have penuts in them?
Uni, did the perc's work for you?
PA, I haven't been to the phamacy yet, I'll probably go by there today and they will be out of Perc's too! Thats just my luck!
Shannon, what are Oxi IR? I take Methadone in the AM & at bed time for pain and the Oxi's are for breakthrough pain. My doc gave me Qty-150 - 10/325's thats 5 a day! Thats a lot of pills, I'm prescribed 4 Oxie #15mg per day usually and rairly take 4 in a day. Thats why I always have leftovers. I'll probably end up w/ a bunch of Perc's now. Its a good thing I have a safe bolted to my concrete slab back home which is loaded! I know I shouldn't do that and I'll probably get critisized for stock piling but at least I don't have to worry about running out! Especially if for some reason like I lose a doc, another shortage comes or terorists bomb and shut off South Florida!!! You just never know, right? What is that old Boyscout saying, "Always be prepaired?" Thanks for all your compassionet replies!

Pete,
'IR" means Instant Release, which are what most of our meds are. "ER" means extended release. Oxycontin is the ER version of oxycodonIR.

I have to go get my percs refilled today, too. And I'm sure not in South FLorida! So if there's a shortage up here I'll let you all know. Most likely there will just be a shortage of intelligence and trust at the hospital pharmacy I now have to use.

KTTN, do you live in Tampa? I'm down in the southeast in Lantana south of West Palm but I work in Pompano Bch. The place Cops is always filming although West Palm gets it's share too. My wife is up in beutiful Floral City about an hour north of you! It's about half way between Invernesss & Brooksville off Hwy #41. I love it up there! I'm going to move up there as soon as I can! So I guess the Oxi problem is all over Florida, hell the whole country! You sure take a lot of it, Wow! Do you take all the meds you you listed every day? What is Amitriptyline? I saw a med container of it in my drarw last night and threw it out. I guess I had took it or tried it and didn't like it but i don't remember it. Thanks for the reply!!

Pete,

Amytriptaline (sp?) is an anti-depressant. It CAN be taken in conjunction with Lyrica to heighten the strength of Lyrica much the same way as Cymbalta, but Amy is a generic and MUCH cheaper.

I took it for a VERY short time because my insurance wouldn't pay for Cymbalta until I 'failed' on a generic anti-depressant.

For me, however, the 'trip' part of the name identifies that medication. I refused to take it after a month (or less, not sure). We don't all react the same, though, so it may still work for you as intended.

Thanks Tony,
I remember now, your right, I think they gave it to me w/ Lyrica which knocked me out so bad, I only took them both for a couple days! I couldn't get out of bed in the morning for work and was even more tired than usual taking them. I'll never take them again unless I endup bedridden. Welcome Tony!

The OXY IR problem is pretty obvious here in central CA also. My regular Pharmacist warned me last month so I looked elsewhere. They said they could fill it, then gave me 60 with an IOU for the rest, which they now cannot fill... I also use Fentanyl patches so I probably won't be having withdrawals, but I'm not going to be a fun person to be around when the breakover pain takes charge in about 12 days.

Well ladies and gents....it may look like lil ole Scarred is gonna get hit by this problem as well. I went and checked the mail anticipating a script for my refill on Kadian. But to my horror no script for Kadian was in the envelope which I called in on Friday and the others (Lunesta, Robaxin and Percocet) on Monday. In the envelope were the Lunesta, Robaxin and Percocet scripts so I got on the phone with my doctors office to let them know that I have exactly one day of Kadian left. I have enough for tonight's dose.....tomorrow morning and tomorrow night. That's it.....I will be left with nothing left of my Kadian...no reserve......no extras.....no nothing. You see my friends....with the move and trying to locate a doctor I had to use my reserve to tide me over, which I totally expected. But I thought I would be able to keep a couple of days built back as most of us do. But today and tomorrow I will use my reserve to tide me over until my script comes through. ACK!

Anyway....that's tomorrow's problem.....back to my reason for posting on this thread. I think I have been hit by this shortage that seems to be going around. I headed to the pharmacy with my scripts and to my horror I found out from the pharmacist when I asked about the shortage that they only had 20 pills in stock! She told me that she was expecting a shipment tomorrow and that maybe....(maybe????) she could fill the script tomorrow. Maybe??????????? What the heck is this? Well she would have to see how much came in....and whether or not it even came in. Dang!!!! Are you kidding me?????? Am I actually going to have to call my doctor to ask permission to seek another pharmacy to fill this script for this time???

In my contract there is a small clause that says I have to stay with the pharmacy that I choose I cannot switch without notifying them and resigning a new contract. So is this going to screw with my contract??? What if that pharmacy doesn't have my oxys? I have two pharmacy's to choose from in this town. Walmart and Dillon's that's it.....there is no more..what do I do now?

Stresssssin here!!!!!

I live in South Florida and have 3 levels of disc herniations along with multiple levels of spinal stenosis, DDD, and facet hypertrophy to name a few things. I wear a 100 ugh Fentanyl patch which does nothing for me, and I take 30 mg Oxy IR. I had my appointment ready and had heard about the shortage. I called my usually reliable pharmacy and they were out. So were other places. When I saw my pain Doc he called a place that had it. This place was super secure...they even fingerprinted me before handing out the meds

To make matters worse, I slipped and fell flat on my back and my pain levels are very high!

Hi, wolftrades,
Haven't seen you post in awhile. So sorry to hear about your fall. I hope you are taking it easy with some ice/heat, etc., in addition to the medications.

Fingerprinting? Ok, now that's a new one. I hate to think what's next.

But I'm glad you got your meds. Take care,

By the way, whomever said that Percocet is the brand name for oxycodone is dead wrong. Oxycodone is the brand name for oxycodone. Percocet is a trade name for a combination of oxycodone and acetaminophen.

I was told by my pharmacist that there are no shortages of percocet in georgia and I would be able to fill my presciption for percocet without any trouble.

Wolftrades: That was me on the Percocet. Just basing that on what my pharmacist had said.

But what you say rings true, due to the acetaminophen, which I know is in there.

Sorry for misleading anyone.

KTTN,
That would be really cool, I'd love to meet you! I love it up there and can't wait to move up to Little old Floral city. From Brooksville up Rt#41 to Floral City is about 13 miles through the Beutiful Withalahooci State Forest, lots of deer! Have you been up that way? Yes, when I do move up there I will be needing a PM Doc, is your Doc in Tampa or around Brooksville, I couldn't get that lucky!
Wolftrades, where in South Fla. do you live? I live in Lantana out by the Fla. Turnpike but work down in Pompano Bch. south of Sample Rd. on Dixie Hwy. ********** & crack Alley! Maybe your new pharm. is near me?
