Hi Vickie

Welcome to the Chronic Pain forum, so you said you have something wrong with the disc in your back does it cause you allot of pain? Are you being treated by a pain specialist or PCP and if so what kind of treatment are you getting? Anyway you have come to the right place for advice and support for your CP, everyone here is really great, I don't think you will find a more caring and compassionate group of folks any where! Let us know if we can help you in anyway.

Good Luck to You

Hi, poodles,
I also want to welcome you to the CP forum, but am sad you have pain to contend with along with everything else.

Since you're familiar with the forum, just feel free to jump in here anywhere! As White Beard said, this is a very caring and supportive group, as I'm sure is true on the other forums.

White Beard,
I was told awhile back that the only help was surgery. I still have not reached a pain level where I will have surgery on my back/neck. I don't see a pain doctor. I got mad at the one I was sent to because he told me my pain was all in my head...I have fibromyalgia, and I hurt everyday.
The pain and numbness in my back/neck is getting worse. It seems to flare up every time I am at the computer now. I will be talking to my gp about it, and seeing what she thinks we should do. I still don't see having surgery.
Thanks for your post.

Vickie, welcome to the best support group there is for those suffering chronic pain. I to wanted to wait to have surgery. I waited 11 years. My doctors bact then were not very optimistic that surgery would solve the problem with back pain and the leg/foot pain so I waited. You are right by checking with your doctor if the pain is increasing. Checking with her and even a consult with a neurosurgeon is an option. You still would not have to have surgery even if the neurosurgeon suggests it. I told a doctor once that I knew the pain was all in my head. I advised him that the nerves send the signal to brain which tells us that we are in pain. I then asked him why he did not learn that in med school. As you can guess, he and I did not have a very long relationship.Keep looking for a good pain management specialist, there are some good ones around.
