I hope you made out well, Kara! I'm surprise that your PM won't help you out with sleep at all. CP & chronic sleep issues are so intertwined that you really need to address both to get anywhere with either. When I used to see a PM, he would prescribe sleep aids as well, although he didn't help me with that for long, because I switched all of my pain management over to my pcp, so he inherited my sleep problems as well, as did the psychiatrist I'm now seeing. Unfortunately, I've yet to find anything that helps or has manageable side effects. One of these days, I hope.

I sure hope that one of your doctors was able to help you out & you sleep tonight!

Hi Kara:

You have been on my mind, as I know how terrible chronic insomnia is. I was just wondering if you considered the sublingual Melatonin? I know a lot of people get nowhere with the regular tablet form, but as I said in a previous post, the subligual form (dissolves under the tongue) has done wonders for my mother-in-law and my son and I think it would be safe with the meds you are on, but I would double check with your doc or pharamacist.

I also thought it was strange that your PM doesn't address sleep issues, as just like CP and depression go hand in hand, so does CP and sleep issues. I was also wondering about benadryl as I believe that is the "active ingredient" for sleep in Tylenol PM or Advil PM, etc.

I hope you get some good deep, don't even remember your dreams (HaHa) type sleep tonight!

kara ...
Xanax sure works for me. It requires that I go to a psychiatrist and I don't
always sleep when I take it -- but sometimes.
Sometimes if you just lay and relax your muscles it is very good. Watch
TV or listen to books on tape from the library. That's good. Relaxing.
Interesting.
My thing is my mind is always whirling around and I think going to sleep
is boring so I kind of fight it. Sounds strange, I know. It's not worry.
Thank goodness.
