Can someone explain the use of a lock on a post?

The general rule is that threads are locked when they reach 50 posts in length. Members are always welcome to start a new thread with the same title plus Part II if they wish to continue the discussion. Long threads, over 3 pages, become difficult to manage, therefore the length restriction.

There are other reasons threads might be locked. If members flame one another, repeatedly post comments that break the rules, or discuss illegal activities, a thread might be locked or even deleted.

Only the administrator who owns this site can lock a thread. I don't know why the thread you are referring to was locked.

I did not get your latest post. I answer every one as soon as I sign on.

There was a post from a new member whose son took some of his pills. There
was a lot of blaming of the poor dad. Maybe it was flaming. Chutz did a good
job of stilling the crowd. Maybe there were others who did this also. I don't know
didn't read it.

Sure give my your cell and I'll call you. It's 10 pm here on the west coast.

Sometimes I'm in pain and can't talk too well other times I'm doing good.
Right now I'm good.

HOW ARE YOU??? I think about your situation a lot.

Pamela

Call anytime. I'd probably be really startled if you called at 3am. However,
I'm usually up. rolleyes

Hi all...

Thanks Ides for answering this question so quickly!

I am the one who asked the administrator about the post and possibly locking it. In my opinion we had gotten our point across and I was concerned about how our new member Sam was feeling with repeated comments. I asked the admin to look at it and it was his decision to lock the thread. The questions had been answered and no purpose was served by continuing it.

Hope that helps,
Chutz

Chutz, I agree totally..
Pamela, I will get that number to you in an email..Thanks for thinking of me, I know that you're watching me closely because our situations are so similar...I just took my mrning Morphine. I actually slept nmore then 2 hours last night, but yesterday was kinda rough... I'm not used to having to wait for pain relief, the Methadone usually held me for quite a while, but I think it's a different story with the Morphine... I counted the hours until I could take another one... I haven't filled my Oxycodone yet, the pharmacy didn't have them...I am hoping that the Morphine..along with the Oxycodone 15 mg. will work for me... I'm going to ask about the pump at the next visit...Maybe???

Me.

I am going to wait months for the pump, Rhonda.

Get yourself out there and get that other script filled before you get into
pain. NOW. lol. Who am I becoming??? Go to another pharmacy. Ask
for your script back.

I'm on the wrong thread right now. Send me your #. We'll chat.

Pamela

As to 'lock', it is something the admin could have done to each type of illness/etc category to prevent people like me from following on and asking about the links for 'Back to Top' in that main/first post.

Tony,
I think the moderators (Ides and Chutz) gave the accurate explanation. I don't think anything is locked because you asked a question!

And don't worry so much about talking about other illnesses that you're struggling with. Like I said before, most of us have more than one illness. Chronic pain tends to wear on the body over time. Someone will generally tell you if there's a problem with your post. Try to relax and enjoy posting, ok?

PaLady :-)
p.s. Tony - I just noticed you asked your question on the admin. thread. That may be why you're associating it with a locked thread, as often the admin. has an introductory thread that's for informational purposes only and that may be locked. What I meant was to e-mail him directly by using his e-mail address, which you'll find if you click on "admin" name. If you're confused, best thing is to just e-mail Chutz or Lindaloo. Hope i haven't confused you more! smilewinkgrin
