Saturdays are often the only time many people are able to go grocery shopping. I almost never go on weekends or Fridays but I did have to go today...long story but we needed some food in the house or my guys were going to go on strike...lol Came home pooped so all I did was put the refrigerator items away, plopped in my recliner and promptly fell asleep. When grandson came home he dug right in and put things away for me. At least we have the basics again.

For us the basics are milk...my guys go through at least 3 gallons/week and sometimes more...butter and eggs. Besides butter, eggs and milk, what are the 3 things that are always in your fridge? (Let's not count condiments either)

OK, I'm thinking... smhair ...cheese! Hubby and 2 y/o grandson would be lost without cheese. Apples...I have to have my apples! Insulin. OK, I didn't say it had to be edible, but I keep my insulin supply in the fridge. Works perfectly in the little butter area.

So, what 3 things are always in YOUR fridge???

Cheese is a must! Perferrably American or sliced smoked guda or better yet Velveta mmmmmmm! next is. Orange Juice I got to have my OJ with some pulp! I use it in place of milk (which I don't drink) and I even put OJ on my cereal (OJ is great on Cranberry Almond Chunch cereal! or Sugar Frosted Flakes or Grape Nuts! Tasty! Tasty!) and third some type of deli meat thin sliced ham, Italian roost beef, or Honey smoked turkey Breast, Pastrami, or something!  If I don't have cereal with OJ for a snack before I go to bed, I will roll-up some deli meat with cheese for my snack!

It is the middle of the night and I am wide awake! Flipping through tv channels and thought I'd sign on and here we are again talking about food! tongue
This group never has a problem with this topic! rolleyes

Ok for me definitely cheeses - love extra sharp white cheddar, and fresh grated Italian romano cheese to put in and on about everything! Usually orange juice, although I like lots of kinds of juices. When I get on my salad kicks (which I very much enjoyed until my appetite changed after my surgery??) green leaf lettuce.

Also I always keep my vinegars in the fridge as Mom always told me they attract bugs - so there's always apple cider vinegar (Heinz, of course) and Balsamic.

Unfortunately tonight I also bought an egg custard pie at the store. It's replacing the M&M's. Oh, I am in trouble now!

PaLady turn
Do you suppose the 2 pieces of egg custard pie lying in my stomach are keeping me awake? smhair

Kangaroo steaks marinated in red wine, emu strips in lite garlic and herb sauce and crocodile patties with mixed herbs, NOT really, usualy the basics heaps of jams with a little out of each bottle, milk and margarine, but I have tried these and kangaroo is a rich meat like venison and emu is a very pore imitation for chicken much drier though and crocodile is like fishy flavoured chicken, even most of us Aussies will not touch this stuff.

Until I give it up completely, I still have diet coke in the fridge and coke for hubby. I have bologna and cheese for the granddaughter and bottles of milk for baby granddaughter. There , that's more than three items I think.

Lot's of fun playing every day, Chutzie.

Why do you want to attract bugs to the refrigerator?

Three things....lessee: Diet Coke with lime to which I am addicted. We shop the stores for the lowest promo price each week and stack the stuff in the garage so I never run out! Also milk (2%) for cereal and those late nights when I can't sleep. And the third would be cinnamon raisen muffins which is my latest craving kick. Toasted with butter and cinnamon+suger dusted on top....it's the greatest! Especially good late at night with milk. Besides these necessities we also have the basic cheeses, eggs, gormet leftovers (really, my wife is an excellent cook), OJ, various jams and preserves. Oh, an don't forget the "crisper drawer" where vegies go to rot.

FRUIT, FRUIT, and more FRUIT! I am a self-proclaimed fruit-a-holic! I always try to keep strawberries, apples, and bananas around, but the more the merrier!
