i had my appt. with my new rheumy today and it went O.K. She still has not received the results of the lab work from the previous rheumy so I'm going on a witch hunt for it tomorrow. They legally have to transfer records and I'm going to call them every two days until they do it. The Doc said that I'm having a very severe flare of my Fibromyalgia right now. I could hardly walk at all today. I had gained 15 lbs. since my last visit because of the increase of the Neurontin. Thankfully it's back to the 1800 mg. a day. She started me on DHEA because my level was so low that it wouldn't even register. It's a male hormone that is required for women to help with energy and bone health. I'm going to takd 25 mg. per day. She wouldn't write for any pain meds because she wants only one doctor writing those meds. So tomorrow I'll try to get into my PCP to talk to him about that. I didn't get to see the other doctor that I had an appt with. He was not in the office today.....They had put me in their computer for next Tues. So that will be another 2hr. trip up and back. I hurt so bad that last night I lay in the extra bedroom on top of pillows. I couldn't stand to touch the bed with my skin. She says I could have connective tissue disorders that overlap. I'm very disguested. I've been sick all of my life but I usually had a name to the disorderr.Oh well, it will all work out. I hope each of you have been able to enjoy your day.

Hi nurse2,

Glad to hear that your visit with the new doc went ok, but I am very sorry to hear about your pain! I also had a nightmare night last night. That really stinks about the mix-up with the other appointment! You'd think that they would have called you, or verified the appointment, or something! It's actually a good thing that the new doc doesn't want to prescribe anything for the pain, as it is never a good idea to have multiple docs trying to manage the same thing, especially when it comes to prescribing pain medication. Although, it certainly doesn't help you out at all pain-wise! sad Hopefully you will be able to get in with your pcp tomorrow & he can get you some relief. For now, try to take it easy! Feel better!

hugs,
Skeye

Oh, and I know how terribly frustrating it is not to have an answer or name to your condition! Hopefully, the rheumy will be able to figure things out, especially once he gets your old records.

Glad to hear your app't went fine. It's so darn frustrating when you can't even get a few pieces of paper sent from one doc to another! grrrrr It's one of the things they are paid to do. You go get 'em, girlfriend!! But just go easy on the body, ok? Don't want you hurting any more than necessary.

Hugs,
Chutzie

I see it written everywhere, but I don't see any definition or reference explaining the meaning.

Jumping at a guess, is 'rheumy' referring to rheumatoid arthritis and/or a doctor specializing in such?

I think your right Tony its a rheumatologist and specializes in rheumatic diseases I looked it up in my Tabers Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary so I would make sure I got the spelling right! I have been to one because I had a positive ANA and they wanted me checked for Lupus, but luckily I am clean on that one!

I have to see one for the first time next month. Just got my packet in the mail from them today. I have no idea what to expect. I only had a vague idea of what they did before recently, as well.
