Wahoo for Friday!! With spring well under way and summer just around the corner I've been seeing more and more summer fruits in the grocery stores. I LOVE fruit especially strawberries, watermelon...OK, just fruit in general. One favorite thing I love to do with it, besides just eat raw is to make either a pie or cobbler. Cobblers are so very easy to make and the entire house smells heavenly. But something about a fresh, homemade pie that is so warming.

What is your favorite fruit pie or cobbler? That one is hard for me because whatever is in season is probably my favorite. But I absolutely LOVE wild blackberry pie. (hmmm, something about this rings a bell. have we done this topic before? Oh well...lol) When we were kids we picked tiny wild blackberries in the woods and mom would make pie and jam. They are hard to come by these days but the cultivated Marionberries are a great second choice. I'll choose fresh, homemade Marrionberry pie with a nice scoop of vanilla bean ice cream... Then I'll see if I have room for supper. Dessert first I always say...lol

And you???? smilewinkgrin

Chutz, this is a hard one for me because my favorite cobblers are peach & blackberry. I make both when I can get fressh peaches and usually always can get blackberries but they get pricey. I have a cobbler recipe that is like 10 minutes to make and its in the oven-way too easy ,lol. I usually makes more of the peach cobbler because the seeds in the blackberries are killer for crohns peeps, but sometimes I crater, lol. Susie

Chutzie this post isn't fair! I would rather have pie than cake any day of the week! But there is just so many different types of pie that I like!. But for an nice summer time treat, I think Pineapple Pie is just the ticket, with Ice Cream (Personally I would rather have Real Genuine Whipped Cream) on top!

My  favorites would be peach cobbler and apple pie. I don't know which one I prefer. I try not to indulge too often. But I sure do love those.

I love peach pie and pumpkin pie. Haven't had peach pie in years. I'm not a pie maker though. I do visit Mrs. Smiths on occasion though.

Think I will pick up a peach pie at the store soon. You all have got me craving now!!

I have tried to stay away from this thread! Too many images of pie going through my mind....pumpkin, blueberry, apple, almost anything. And cobbler? Yum - especially warm, with ice cream. And of late I've even found this yummy egg custard pie my local grocery store makes at its bakery.

I may have to make a trip to the store, cuz I ain't bakin' tonight!

My Mom makes a Christmas pie which the recipy has been handed down generation to generation back to Belgium where her ancestors came from back in the mid 1800s. The crust is made entirely from crushed Brazil nuts which she cracks & picks the nut from. The shells are as hard as rocks and it takes her hours to do it. Then there is a secret custard filling topped with whipped heavy cream made with a mixer of course toped with cherries, the kind that come in jars in liquid, I forget the name of them. This pie is like nothing else and only comes once a year. I know it's not a fruit pie but one taste and you are definitly in heaven! She backs it up with an Italian canole pie! OMG!!!!!! For the rest of the year, I love all pies but they don't like my waisteline!
Happy pie eating!

Oh, I am not much of a pie maker, however, I can make a mean Lemon Chess Pie that is awesome. I cannot make pie crust so I let Marie Calender make those for me lol. She does alot of my pie making come to think of it. The Lemon Chess pie recipe came out of local newspaper food section. My hubbys specialty for summer is homamde Key Lime pie that is awesome. Its off the topic but I finally learned how to make real fudge not using the marshmallow creme. I love Amaretta fudge, make it during the holidays. This fudge recipe was a mans recipe and it also came from my local paper...I had to go buy a candy thermometer and I think that was the key to my success plus you need a heavy duty free standing mixer with high watts otherwise you will burn up the mixer lol....Susie
