Just was wondering if anyone had similar experience/symptoms.

I'm on wait list to get CT scan on spine, and EMG.

Symptoms

-posture is guarding automatically. if I pull my shoulder back & Down the pain goes from a 2/10->9/10 in my mid back area. My posture guards by moving Up & forward.

-Constant clicking/snapping one one side of cervical spine. Feels like someone is plucking me like a guitar, over and over again repeatedly. The pressure builds slowly over minutes then and releases suddenly over half a second. Lieing down makes it worse, Sitting makes it worse, Standing relieves it some what.

-Get spasms/pain traveling down into front of shoulder/bicep & into my tricep.

-Basically If I use the arm on the problem side at all it gets messed up the inflammation spreads like wild fire throughout my shoulder/back of neck/side of neck/front of neck

-Tried chiropractor adjustment where they snapped my neck to relieve some of the tightness, Made it noticeably worse.

-Tried Acupuncture/prolotherapy, ultrasound, massage therapy. It seems like whenever they manage to relieve the tightness in the neck muscles it starts automatically plucking like a guitar again. Then the huge inflammation / spasms follows. Then it Tightens up significantly/guards.

-Advil helps me function, without it I'm a mentally unstable. Pain seems to expose my Bipolar tendencies.

Hi Greg,
Welcome to HW!  We are here to offer advice and support...from what you have posted I would contact the Dr. who ordered the tests and let him know what is happening to you.  I had ruptured discs in the neck and an MRI was the test of choice to see what the true situation was.
What you are describing definitely warrants a follow up!
Keep us posted,
Patti

Hello Greg,

I am new here too....

I too experience neck problems:
www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=16&m=1515202
my thread is entitled: Can't find relief on the second page.

Question... do you hold your head to one side and is one shoulder visibly higher than the other?

I would say do get an MRI.... hope you get some relief soon

Right now I am trying to educate myself and learn all I can... I have already learned some thing here...

         Dear Greg82,

Good afternoon! My name is Dani. It is very nice to meet you. I am new here too. There are people from all walks of life here. I think you too will like it here aswell.  You said you were on a waiting list for some tests? Will you be able to aquire these tests soon? Or is  it a long wait? Need to start documenting and quick.  confused

I have MANY of your symptoms. Literally. My neck does the same thing, and continues to this day... Its happing all way down my spine now, thou the stuff in the thoratic region doesnt not hurt.. it itches! smhair It was a very slow, gradual progression over a few years time. I too am ALL inflammation related. and by the by.. I hate to be one to pluck apart your post but!

Pain seems to expose my Bipolar tendencies

Slowly progressing spine issues HURT. No bones about it! No "tendancy" atall. I get down right Grumpy!  A good, constructive grumpy out lit for me is my local states representatives. But be careful with that one... apparently even wheen I write my rant letters.... during election time I still get the "Pro" (inster primitive view point here) spam. smilewinkgrin

I really really hope you are able to get your tests in a timly fashion. It would be really good to get some key therapies in right away. And document, document those changes in your spine. Even if you get "We don't know" today...  the rate of medical advances is progressing at a mind boggling speed.

     See you again soon

Until you can get tests / treatment plann started

Ideas: Arnica (gel and pill form at any local health food store), "wet" heat heating pad, TeNS (Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation), Pilates (upper core postural muscles exercises) & Dark foods (black) the better the ani-inflammation / antioxidants will be. Beans and rice is a nice lunch :-)
TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood

Hi,

Right shoulder(problem side) is significantly lower then left at the ideal resting position, however the symptoms escalate significantly. The guarding brings right shoulder up to approximately level with left where I experience minor relief.

The problem used to be isolated to only my upper neck only, where I could ignore it. The compensation it causes problems else where. Now it spread from being an isolated injury to being my entire spine Lower/mid/upper being dysfunctional. It may not seem like much to most doctors but to me it feels life threatening, and I'm very scared it will continue to deteriorate. I'm only 22 years old.

My doctor won't listen to me, he try to brush me off with conservative treatments for so long, Only when physiotherapist called him tell him that I have more serious problem, does he order scan for me. I don't know another doctor who I can see though.

Main problem is Canada health care system, puts chronic pain sufferer who suffer slow constant torture on wait list after wait list. It is not considered a emergency situation until your paralyzed or blindness or loss of control of bowel movements.

Do you guys have any recommendation as far as private spine center/specialists. I'm willing to travel to get treatment.
