I've come down with the flu despite getting a flu jab and a pneumonia jab!!! My chest is so sore from coughing I'm worried I have the costochondritis back that I developed last year after pneumonia. My hips are back in full flare mode and my lower back has gone out in sympathy then to top it off my ovaries are playing up again. I have to get a nerve conduction test done next Monday for the carpel tunnel to check whether its from my wrists or my neck and now an ultrasound of my ovaries again. Plus I can't take my humira while I'm sick so I feel like a ticking time bomb waiting for the RA to explode once I've used up the humira half life!!! Why does everything happen at once? I feel like each condition is so precariously balanced... plus I'm on my semester break, I was really looking forward to making some art of my own, sorry about the big whinge. Golitho

I am so sorry you are feeling so poorly.
I know that for me the control over the RA is connected to all my other medical conditions including allergies and sinus infections. Not being able to take your meds makes it even worse.
The only suggestion I have is try to get enough rest-for me that really helps with the RA and preventing flares.

Golitho,
It's really a bummer when it just keeps raining and then pouring and the flooding (I mean in terms of problems with our body!). I just think the stress just accumulates and keeps weakening any part of us that should have the arrogance to be a little healthy or strong! Ok, that's just my little theory but sometimes it feels like it, doesn't it?

I hope things start getting a little better for you. At least the EMG should give you some answers, although it may be a bit painful. I've had two very successful carpal tunnel surgeries (one for each hand :-)) and only wish my back surgery had been as successful. I was convinced the problems were coming from my neck issues, but turns out lucky me, I had both.

(((((((((Golitho))))))))))))

Take care of yourself and we're here listeninig whenever you need us!

Hi Golitho,

Oh I am right there with you. I am struggling with a bout of bronchitis and its awful to get these kinds of things in the summer of all times. Winter is bad enough but summer time-come on, give us a break. I sure hope you can get past this fast and back on schedule with the Humira.

I totally understand what you are going thru. I have had to stop the Humira for crohns with this bronchitis thing, before that it was open sores on my feet and infection that prevented me from being able to take the Humira. Yes, you do wait for the other shoe to drop when in this situation.

Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Thanks everyone, I had a huge sleep this afternoon and feel a bit more positive again. Susie I'm in Australia so I am in winter, but I totally agree getting sick in summer always feels wrong!!! My GP has given me an anti biotic to take if I develop a secondary infection I'm also prone to bronchitis but I feel more wheezy than anything. Really hurts to cough.
I totally agree PAlady I get so sick of all these overlapping symptoms I want to move forward not back but my body keeps letting me down. I'm a bit worried about the carpel tunnel surgery so good to hear yours was so successful. I have an inbuilt fear of surgery after my shoulder was so seriously stuffed up. I've been putting off my hernia surgery, it bothers me so little in comparison to everything else!!!
Thanks White Beard for your kind words. Do you still get to make any art?
SJ I went to bed today and drew on lots of favours to manage my kids. I'm trying hard to rest and hopefully kick this virus before it can turn into something else. I don't usually give in so soon, trying hard to look aftermyself. Catching pneumonia last year was a major scare for me, I don't want to go back there again. Thanks again for lifting my spirits, you're a wonderful group of people, golitho

Hi Golitho,

I'm sorry that you are feeling so rotten! Getting sick any time of year is awful, especially when you have CP, because it always seems to make it worse! I hope that you can get this illness under control quickly so that it doesn't progress into something even worse! Feel better!

hugs,
Skeye

Thanks Skeye, I definately feel a bit brighter today, my head is clearer from that fluey fog, yeah!!! Just dealing with the chest and headache now, my body feels a bit like I've been tossed around in a cement mixer!!! I've been taking a herbal remedy, olive leaf extract, that a doctor friend reccomended, tastes so foul but maybe its working??? Has anyone tried it? Golitho

Golitho, I am sorry that you are sick. I do hope that you start to feel better soon. Being sick is horrible. And having CP and being sick makes it even worse. It sounds really bad... oh the body aches that go along with the flu. Bless your heart. I do wish you a speedy recovery. For now, I'll send you hugs. And try the chicken noodle soup. I don't know why, but when I am real sick and eat it, it really seems to help.

Thanks Anice, I notice I'm still logged on from yesterday, even though I tried to log off??? Strange. My kids are dropping like flies around me. My son has started with the temps and headaches and my daughter feels like vomitting!!! Luckily I seem to be rallying, just the cough and weakness now. Can't decide if its asthma or early bronchitis!!! Unfortunately my joints are beginning to swell but I'm not recovered enough to take the humira yet. Feel like if I take it my joints will be good but I'll go downhill fast and if I don't I might fight off this virus but I'll be in a lot of pain. What a decision??? Oh the joys of RA, golitho
