When you were a kid what foods did you love? Like for me, if I knew mom was making mashed potatoes I was a happy camper. Didn't matter what else...I was a carb kid...still am!! smilewinkgrin And on the other hand, what food did you absolutely hate but you were made to eat it anyway?

As mentioned, mashed potatoes whether we had gravy or not, made the meal. They were cheap and we had potatoes in some form often. But my mother loved all of the weird, disgusting veggies like parsnips, beets and hominy! <shudder> (I actually have goose bumps as I'm typing..lol) And I grew up in the era of you ate what was put in front of you and if you didn't you would sit at the table until you had finished. Didn't matter if you were hungry or throwing up the beets, you finished them. When my own children were young I served at least 2 vegetables with our dinner meal. I asked that they at least try one bite of anything new and if they didn't like it that was fine because they learned to eat so many other veggies that it didn't matter if there were 1 or 2 they didn't eat.

When you were growing up what food was your favorite and which one could the world survive without... tongue

If you ask what is the single most important key to longevity, I would have to say it is avoiding worry, stress and tension. And if you didn't ask me, I'd still have to say it.

My Aunt would make an Angel Food cake and ice it with a sticky frosting, was always good...

Carrots, are a food I hate, make my tummy hurt with the acid in them.....

I absolutely LOVED my mother's fried chicked. And I always hoped that she made too much spaghetti, so we could have it the next day. Either were heaven in my book.

On the other hand I'd have paid you to take away the tuna casserole.

Split Pea soup and corn bread. Granny , before she passed, rest her soul. She would start it in the morning. Go down to the butcher to get fresh pig feet early. Cook and cook all day long.  And her corn bread? Oh! Oh! Was sure to induce nap - time!

I loved my father's fried chicken. He had a wonderful recipe and I use it to this very day. Now I make the best fried chicken!! He He He!!!

I hated peas. Still do. Actually, not too fond of vegetables as a rule.

My mother was a lousy cook. My brother cooked a lot until that chore was handed over to me during the week, when he enlisted in the Navy. We did anything to keep my mother from cooking (burning food)!!

Believe in yourself.  Be kind to fellow humans and animals.  Take time to smell the flowers and the coffee.
And by all means, when you are down, ask me for help.  I will be there.

I love my moms fried chicked and mashed potatoes with milk gravy and green beans cooked with bacon and onion , yum yum yum.

I hated, despised, fish and kind of fish, fried or otherwise, and now as an adult I love it especially Tilapia and make it and bake it baby!!
It's weird how much we change from children to adults.
