I had my appointment with the NP yesterday evening and all and all it went OK.

The good news is that I am back on all my primary medications, and after going through my medical history she ended up ordering a lot of lab tests that really should have been done a long time ago and done regularly but haven't. So maybe the part of my health being effected by diabetes can get into some sort of order.

The bad news is that it turns out she doesn't have a controlled substance prescription license, so no pain meds. She did make a referral for me one step up the food chain though to one of the MD's she works with, but it is going to be October before I can get in.

Hey Dani,

The cancellation list is a good idea....Glad I already thought of it. smilewinkgrin

So far today is not really being all that good of a day for me pain wise. It seems to be a major flair up day. My usual 6 decided to be a 9 when I got up this morning, and it is all centered on those herniated discs. ON top of that I woke up with two splitting headaches. One I know for sure is a sinus headache, and the other feels like either a tension headache or one being caused by the suspected bad discs in my neck.

For what its worth I do know why my back is hurting so much today. From Thursday until yesterday afternoon I was having to lug around my 45 lb 3 y/o. We thought he had broke his leg on Thursday but a visit to the ortho yesterday found it to be a misread x-ray in the ER. I am thrilled my little guy is OK, but almost 4 days of caring him around has taken its toll.

Dear Jim1969,

I am glad your little one is okay! I turn into some form of overly protective monster when my bumblebees are hurt. And the way the littler ones cry when they dont feel good? Oh! Breaks my heart! shakehead

So sorry your having a flare up AND headaches! I hate how pain likes to come with friends... "I don't remember inviting extras!"  mad   Do you have a chance to somewhat relax today? Wednesdays are my sundays. I ll be riding the lazy express today. Which is good. My pain is slowly increasing too, but i expect this and its normal for me to experience it right now. Maybe a good day to brew iced cammomile  smilewinkgrin

Being a full time stay at home father often does not equal relaxation as any stay at home parent with pre-school aged kids can readily attest too.

I am trying to take it as easy as possible though only doing the bare min. today. The housework can go take a flying leap as far as I am concerned.

Doesn't help much either that it is a rainy day around here. Bubbers (nick name for my kid) is grumpy cause he can't go out and play. If it was nice out I could let him loose in our fenced in yard and stretch out on the swing to keep an eye on him.

It is suppose to be nice tomorrow and we only have 2 must do things to accomplish so at least there is that to look forward to.

Dear Jim1969,

I think, for me, trying to take a day off.. Like today. The hardest part is that I know I will have all those same chores + more come tomorrow. Hard when can't just "call in" to work. shakehead

Jim,
Wow, carrying around a 45 lb child! Hey, how about pulling out an old stroller and making it look like some kind of race car (or whatever he likes) and stuff him in next time that happens? Just a thought, although I know not one he'll love!

NP's here in PA can't write for narcotics either. But October is sure a long way off! Hopefully, something will open up on that cancellation list. I find it usually does, although it's often last minute. I also find it helps to call them periodically and check - although not too much to make a pest out of yourself. Still, the squeaky wheel gets the oil!

Jim,
Was this your first visit with the NP?  The reason I ask is that whenever I see the NP at the Dr. office I go to they always write my scripts...Maybe because I am an established patient?

Sure hope you got some relaxing in Jim,,,Do you have any indoor games your child can play?
such as clue jr, or playdough or coloring time...
Just tossing out some ideas...maybe he could do quiet time and go play with cars..
