spent 13 hours in ER. HAd to call 911 because the pain in my head,I vomited and something went "pop" in my head! I thought I was going to die or was having a stroke. Long story short they had me get a ct scan which was normal, and did a spinal tap to rule out menningitis. All freaking normal. I should be out running frappin marathons according to their tests.  They were kind enough to give me some morphine for the pain. It worked. hopefully my pm doc doesnt fire me. desperate times! I wonder if that means oral morphine would help me? When I have no pain my bp is perfect.

Merrygirl I'm so sorry you had to be in the ER for 13 hours without knowing what caused it. I have also been in hospital in regards to pain you just explained. Mine was due to the epi's I was getting in my spine for pain control.

IV morphine is great for pain. I don't know if the oral version is as good. SOmeone else might have that answer. Your PM will not fire you. You can see the ER and get meds while you are there but you can't fill a script from one or any other doctor.

I'm so sorry once again for all the pain you are going through

thanks for you r support. I just had epidural injections about 5 weeks ago. interesting. It almost felt like a bubble of meds broke or something. GLad to know I wont get fired. It is sad we have to worry about such things when we are sick.

whatever it was, it was awful! hope they dont happen to you anymore.

Sorry you had to be sent to the ER, I hope getting the spinal tap wont give you a warse headache, I know it did for me. If you get worse headaches/migraines now, ask for a blood patch to fix the spinal tap. And you would have to look at your PM contract about getting pain meds at ERs, some doctors dont care and some do. I know I had to sign a contract that stated something about getting meds at the ER, and once I mentioned that I may have to go cause I was very sick and had a severe migraine that wouldnt go away, and my PM doctor at the time freaked out and said if I received any narcotic pain meds that I would be breaking my contract, which I thought was a bunch of BS, I'm just happy I am not his patient anymore.

Right now I'm having severe stomach pain, might be my pancreas, it feels like it's in my chest and its getting harder and harder to breathe, but I refuse to go the ER. I would rather die at home in peace then die there, thats for sure. BUT I'm sure this pain of mine will soon past, it always seems to. But as long as your feeling better, then that's good. I know getting meds by IV are alot better then taking them oral, they seem to work alot better. I know people either love morphine or hate it, it's an odd med.

You did the exact right thing, by going to the ER! By going to the ER you were under the care of a physician, you did not know what ws causing your pain or how serious it was! Going to the ER was the proper thing to do! By not going you are taking unneeded risk, because if it was something serious and you didn't go....well then what? It is your life, and you need to do what is best for you! If your pain Doctor has a problem with that then ask him what you are suppose to do? When your in extreme pain and you seek the proper treatment through the way, there is nothing wrong with that, and if your Pain Doctor has a problem then you need to be seeing some one else! It really bothers me that some of these doctor treat CP patients like they were criminals or something! CP patients should not have to live in fear that their PM is going to stop treating them! Don't we all have enough everyday problems the way it is? We don't need that too! Really how do you know how serious your condition is?  Do they have any idea what is causing your pain? At least you didn't try treating your pain your self! I know your frustrations of hassling with the ER and having test only to be told they are OK, but it was still the right thing to do! I do hope they can find out what is causing all this!
I wish you well merrygirl!

(((((Melissa)))))). I'm sorry you had to go through all that, but I'm glad that the ER was able to help despite the lack of answers. I hope you are feeling better today!
