Hi Everyone,

I have a Synovial cysts at L5-S1 thats 1.5 x 1.2cm

I now have a surgery date set for 9/9/09. YEA!
They stated:
Decompressive Lumbar Laminectomy and possible discectomy.
(He stated he does not like to untether)

Also, They have taken me off the 10/325 percocet and placed me on the
50mg Fentynal Patch.
Any thoughts on the patch? Because it is NOT working one bit! nono

I am in more pain with this than I was with the percocet. cry
Thanks
Donna

Update:::::

Well, I let the Dr know the Fentynal was NOT working.
(seriously, I expected at least a little relief, but nothing)

So I have now been switched to Oxycontin 20mg 2x a day.
This seems to be working!
I am sure some of you all are on this, can I get your opinions of the med??? How much are you on? Etc.... confused
Thanks!

Welcome to Healingwell forums. I have never been on the fentynal other than during my procedures every monday mixed with versed through IV. So I have no opinions on that one. I have always been on my perc 10's and don't plan on changing anytime to soon.

My opinion comes from my husband when he had his two surgeries in the last 12 months. He was on the Oxycontic but didn't feel much. We found out they never worked for him but the strange thing is the Percocet worked 100 times more.

Everyone's body deals with medications so differently that one combonation will work for one then not work for another person. Sounds like you have a everything under control and increasing when needed.

I wish you well

I personally don't have any experience with Fent. The only ones that I've really been tried on is hydromorphone, hydrocodone, and oxycodone in SR and IR. The hydro family doesn't seem to be as effective for me. Such as dilaudid doesn't really give me pain relief. I will get more relief out of 2 5/325 percocets than I will an equivalent dose of dilaudid (hydromorphone). So I'm currently on 30mg oxycontin with 15mg odycodones for BT. But others everyone is different.
Curious people are interesting people, I wonder why that is.
