I just picked up a new prescript
ion this morning..... for 60 pills I paid $466.65
... that is with the $30 rebate from the manufacturer on their web site.... I am prescribed to take one to two pills....however I will only be taking one so that I can stretch this out to last two months.
This is for Amrix.... a 24 hour sustained release muscle relaxer ....... My Dr. gave me a weeks worth of samples to try and they really were better than any of the others ones I have tried along the way... the sides effects are less than the Skelaxin I was on before.... I also like the idea of taking one pill before I go to bed and not having to worry about
taking it throughout the day.... I did try the generic Flexeril but could not function at all the entire next day... felt as if I had a bad, bad hangover.
So monthly I am paying $612.00 for meds.....OUCH! That's for my three prescript
I do get 60% back from insurance since I have met my $1000 deductible.... but still..... WHY?
Along the way I have learned to ask for samples first from the Dr..... I have so many bottles of pills that I have been prescribed and then couldn't take due to the side effects.
I have also learned to look for rebates from the manufacturer of the drug on their websites.... so I got $30 off my Amrix and $50 off my Avinza.
I am sure so many of you have costs greater than mine.... I am interested in hearing... also beside asking for samples...getting rebates...trying the generic version of the drug... is there anything else to help cut the cost of the meds.... I also recently switched my pharmacy to a small local family run store rather than going to a big corporate chain pharmacy like CVS
I am wondering if the pharmacies that order meds from Canada really make a difference in price and how do they work? How long does it take to get meds.... a week... a couple of days....
What do you all do and what are your monthly costs>
