Hello Everyone,
First I'd like to appologize for not being around for a while, life has gotten very complicated lately w/ all my SSD paperwork, phone calls and Dr. & dentist apts. I feel like I've been through the mill. My neck is a total wreck and I've started wearing one of my braces again. Timing couldn't be much worse as I'm leaving early Friday a.m. for a 3,000+ mile road trip, driving most of it solo in my little Chinese BMW>{Hyunda}.....
Since I'm not working anymore I thought taking a long road trip would be excellent theropy for my mind as I used to drive everywhere back when I was younger and have really missed it over the last 20+ years! My wife's brother and his lovely wife had a baby girl about 2 months ago and my wife was asked to be God Mother. They live in Boston and my wife is flying up for the Christening the weekend after this upcoming one. My oldest son Joseph, the one who is stationed in Washington State is in Virginia Bch. for radar school and I thought I'd kill several stones by driving up seeing Joe on the way (he got me a cheap room on base to stay in). My Mom is still up in Joizy at her summer lake house so that would be my next stop. Then Conn. to p/u a brother-in-law who I'm not crazy about who needs a ride to Boston as his wife (my wife's sister) is going up early to meet my wife. Then on the ride home I'll reverse my tracks only make several more stops seeing friends in N.C. Western Virginia and Alabama before heading back to Good old Fla. Unless a huricane or two pays one or both of my houses a visit while I'm gone!! Geeze> I HATE Huricane season!!!
On another note, I had my monthly Dr. apts today back in Palm Bch. County and had to help do their SSD paperwork for them!!! I was glad they went over it w/ me as the answers they wrote were correct w/ my help!! That was my Urologist, Primary and Pain management Drs. I told my PM about my neck pain getting worse and he gave me some litterature on a stimulator like Father John got. I'll check it out before my next visit and talk about it then. He also upped my meds w/o me even asking. He added a oxi and a methadone tablet to my daily dose bringing it up to 4 - 10 mg methadone and 6 - 15mg oxicodone tabs a day. I wasn't taking all he prescribed before! I don't like the dopy feeling, getting sleepy and worry about driving if I take too much! I know Y'all are going to scold me for not obeying orders but I have to drive and especially now w/ this long trip planned!!!
Well, it's been a very long day today, I can't believe I'm still up and I have sooooo much to do tomorrow so I'll say Good night, Sweet painfreee dreams and even if you don't see me post, I'm still prayin for all Y'all!!!
Peace & Love my Family & Friends> Hugs too!
Pete
PS> if y'all were wondering, Yes I fired my N.G.F.S. attorny!!!
56 years old, Surgury, Radical Prostatectomy 8/20/03, PSA 6.6, Gleason 3 + 3 = 6, Adenocarcinoma extent (moderate) Stage & Margin:T2NOMX, No Metastases, Organ Confined, bone scan: Neg. 3 1/2 years of depression after surgery prior to Hypogonadizm DX, Testosterone Theropy> new 2/6/09> 400mg injections once a month. 56 and so glad to still be here to see my two sons grow up to be fine young men. They are both serving in the US Navy, Joseph is on the aircraft carrier USS John Stennis back in Bremerton, Wa. after 8 mo. deployment! and Pete Jr. is on The Asault Ship USS Bataan "The Jaws of the Fleet" somewhere in the Persian Gulf w/ 2,000 Marines aboard. Pete, enjoy your road trip and take plenty of breaks. I know how those road trips are and some of us never want to stop all we want to do is get there. As some of our honered guests here talk about filing for SSD I can't imagine the amount of paperwork. I am glad you will get to see your son. Soirry to hear the neck is still giving you fits. There are days that I think it would be better if they took my back completely out. So I would only be three feet tall, big deal. Take care of yourself. I'll shot you an eamil.

Pete,
I used to love to drive and take long road trips, too! But neither I nor my car would make it at the moment! So drive a few hundred miles in my honor - with windows down and radio blasting!!!

Seriously, do heed Fatherjohn's advice. Get out and do some stretches, especially for your neck. I also have a cushion I sit on and a lumbar support for my back. They may seem like small things but they help!

We'll be looking forward to stories when you return!

Hugs - and safe travels!

Pete, try some of those instant heat things that stay hot for 8 hrs. for your neck while driving. I've done that before and it does help. Enjoy your break you deserve it!!!!

Have a good and safe trip. Did you get to address the depression with your PCP and get something offered up instead of continuing with Effexxor?
