If you are new to this forum family then you may be wondering what kind of goofy question is that on a health care forum. idea We all suffer with medical conditions and with most of us there is pain involved...sometimes a lot of pain. Or maybe you are the loved one of one of these persons. This forum is all about how we help and support each other, how we gain back more quality to our lives, and how we can learn and share what we gain along the way and hopefully make not only our lives better but the lives of others who come to join us.

But we need to also remember that there is the other side of life...the side that isn't concentrated on illness and pain. That's why we started the daily Koffee Klatch. This is a time to laugh, reminisce, chit-chat about the silly things in our lives...all fun things and no pain. In fact the 'P' word is not allowed... tongue So each day we share our thoughts or experiences on a different topic. Often it includes food, sometimes we talk about our past, and other times we just get goofy! Laughter is our goal. So, please join us whether this is your very first day on Healing Well or you're a seasoned veteran.

What is your favorite Holiday and why?

Mine is Christmas. Every year, the day after Halloween, I begin decorating for Christmas. It is a long and involved process. Every year when the stores begin stocking the halloween items and goodies I know I am closer to my FAVORITE time of year. For me, it is a time to bring warmth and joy to my household and all those I hold dear.

     So, what is yours?

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood

Now you are speaking my language! Ahhh Christmas! A time when the little boy in me can come out! A time when I can enjoy the bright colored lights and the fresh clean smell of pine and fir trees! And delight in the looks, smells, and taste of fresh baked Christmas cookies! Oh and of course I can not forget the music, Christmas carols! my favorite songs, the ones that everyone knows and everyone can sing along too, no matter what type of voice they have! It is such a magical time of year!

Yes Christmas time is my favorite too!

Dani and WB,

My favorite too!!  I decorate a little at a time and every where you look there is Christmas radiating from every corner of my home.  Done tastefully I might add.... I am known to family and friends as Miss Christmas love it love it love it.  I have a Christmas Eve party every year, pain doesn't stop me nor finances!  Last year I was going to cancel due to our business and everyone refused to let me cancel, it was one of the best parties we have had!

I love everything about this most treasured time of year!

I think Christmas has to be the winner. It got even better after I had kids, the joy on their faces when they were little...but I also love doing the tree. Still buy a real one as well, just love that smell permeating your house. I love colour too, still put up all the handmade Xmas decorations from the kids when they were in pre school. Some thing so wonderful about those crooked angels and wobbly halos!
Yup Christmas, time to eat too much, time to laugh, time to just relax and enjoy my family and friends, love it, golitho

We alway had midnight mass at 9 PM at our little country parish, and then we would have people from our church come over to our house for a little Christmas cheer and snacks  ( horsey doovers!) and such, it was always  was such a nice time.

Earlier on, in the evening before mass I alway cooked steaks out on the grill ( usually T-Bones or Rib-Eyes) ( even in the snow and cold!) and then we would have them with salad an potato,  and turn off all the lights except the christmas lights and we would eat our dinner by candle light! with a glass of wine! That has been a family tradition that my family always did when I was a child living at home and I have always carried on the tradition! I wonder what this Christmas will be like? ( that is a sobering thought!)

Well, I guess I'm the oddball here.

I love Halloween. Every year I decorate my front porch with ghost, ghouls, spiders, skeletons, and assorted gruesome things. I dress in an outlandish costume. Last year I was an old lady with a baby on the back (my head being the baby). I give out candy bars to the brave ones who come into my yard.

WhiteBeard,

Your Christmas Celebration sounds simply wonderful!!  We BBQ here in AZ all yr...BUT I have to give you kudo's for your BBQ tongue in the SNOW??  I bet that was so fun!

Hey Couchtater your not an oddball I have lots of family and friends who LOVE Halloween, my Son-in-law does a spectacular display in his front yard.  Every year its different and they start building and planning in May....last year they made their front yard a cemetary fence, bodies, skeletons and all.  It was unbelievable.  I can't wait to see what he creates this year.  This year the local TV station has promised to feature his house....how fun is that!!
