White Beard,
I just want to echo edt's and skeye's thoughts for a successful surgery and recovery! Do you know how long you'll be inpatient (I may have asked you this before and apologize if I forgot!)? How are your plans going for help at home? (ok, there I go again playing mother hen!)

We will be thinking of you and sending you wishes for a quick healing!!

Hugs,

Thank -You edt, and skeye, and PAlady I am waiting for the hospital ( Pre-Op) to call me and give me the exact time of my surgery and what time I am suppose to be there Monday morning!

Had a couple look at the house the other day and they have been going back ans asking the realtor allot of questions about my house, they are very interested, I just hope they really want to buy it. Had another couple come and look at it this morning! But I didn't think they were that interested in it! But who knows.

Went to court yesterday, what a waste of time that was! I sat around in court for over an hour, just to have my wifes lawyer ask for a 66 day cotinuance, or what ever it is called. My lawyer said he is stalling just trying to drag it out and make more money from my wife! I think the guy is jerk!  He told my lawyer that I am the reason for the delay, because I won't accept his proposal. We have submitted three counter proposals and he has rejected all of them and will not budge from his first proposal which is totaly unacceptable and he knows it! The funny thing is, he didn't ever show my wife the last  two proposals, so last night I personally gave her a copy of the latest proposal which I made and wrote up, even my lawyer was impressed with it!  He thinks it is win win proposal for everyone! Anyway I gave it to her and got her to sign a receipt for it. My Lawyer thinks she might accept if she got a chance to read it!  So I gave it to her and told what her lawyer was doing and how he wasn't even giving her a chance to see the proposals and make her own decision, and how the delays was acturally his fault!   She  wasn't happy about this long delay, as our next court hearing isn't til  December first.  She thought is was my fault for the delay, as that is what her lawyer told her. But that was not  true, as soon as our lawyers went before the Judge the first thing said, was the request for continuance by her lawyer and it was granted it and they set the next court date! When my lawyer gave him my latest proposal, he rejected with out even looking at it or reading it!   Anyway if my wife doesn't accept my proposal, then we will be fighting it out in court as we have the court scheduled for a minimum of a 3 hour hearing the first of Dec! We will be paying our lawyers plenty that day! This is really starting to tighten my jaws I have bent over backwards trying to be fair, and for what.  My lawyer did say if she didn't accept my latest proposal and reign   in her lawyer then Dec 1st we would fight to get her to pay me maintenance as she is working and I am on disability.

Sorry for rambling on about this!  But I can't tell you how disappointed and frustrated I am, I wanted so much for this part of my life to finally be over with yesterday! I have enough on my plate the way it is! Anyway, I will post when I find out about my surgery time and everything!
Thank-You all for all your Kindness and Support!
( and listenig to me whine about my personal problems!)

White Beard,
No need to apologize - we're here to listen! I'm sorry things didn't go better yesterday, but I do know divorces tend to drag out. Actually, I tend to think anything involving lawyers gets drawn out, IMHO, so they can make more money including SSD, but that's off the track a bit!

But who knows - maybe your wife will accept this proposal you gave her and bit a little miffed at her lawyer, especially if she wants this to be over with, too. And it's great you're getting interest in the house - rememer my crystal ball - you'll get an offer before the snow flies!!! :-)

We'll be waiting to here the details about Monday.

Hugs,

PaLady

Good luck White Beard, I really hope this fixes up your arm problems and creates less pain for your neck. Not easy the weekend before, I know I was so nervous, so try to relax and not stress about this horrible divorce process.
Why does everything always happen at once. My car broke down 3 days prior to surgery, it ended up being very minor but very inconvennient as I was on my way to work which I'm going to miss for at least 2 weeks. I ended up overheating on a major arterial road so I managed to pull off to a side road amidst much tooting and stressing on my part. You think you see smoke billowing for someones engine you let them across the lanes but no. Its more important to beat the traffic! Anyway I abandoned the car and got one of my students to pick me up and then dealt with it afterwards. My radiator cap had lost its pressure valve!!! Cost me $22 to fix. But I didn't need the hassle.
Sincere best wishes to you, I'll be thinking of you, golitho

Well Pre-Op called this afternoon and Monday morning is going to be an early one for me. I have to be at the Hospital surgery check in center at 5:30 AM Monday morning and surgery is scheduled at 7:30 AM. I live 40 miles from the hospital so I will have to get up before even the chickens get up! I have friend that is going to give me a ride there, they told me I could take my BP med at 6AM Metoprolol and my Baclofen for the muscle spasms and my Oxycontin, and Percocet, but all the others are bein held, which is mainly for my UC. I am glad they are letting me take my pain meds! And they reminded me to bring my mask and my sleep apnea machine!

Anyway I was shocked tonight as my wife called, just a short quick call but she was actually half way nice and wished me luck on my surgery Monday! That has got to be a first! I was hoping she was going to say she like my proposal, but she didn't mention it!

Well that is the news here.  I got myself a Lap Top a couple of weeks ago at Sams, it was on the marked down shelf, a new Dell studio lap top all set up with WIFI and everything, and it was $150.00 off the regular price because it had been opened !  So I am hoping I can use it in the Hospital if they have  internet available. So maybe I will be able to get on line Tues or Wed and let you know how everything went!

You know I think the world of all of you here on this forum. All of you have made such a difference in my life, I have had some really difficult times and still do and yet you have all been here and given me such great support! How can I ever begin to let you know how much it means to me!

Thank-You All

Good morning WhiteBeard, so glad you posted on the time for surgery. yes, you will be up before the chickens and the crows Monday morning. I see a friend is taking you Monday. By any chance will your daughter get to come and stay with you at the house while you recoup? Better to have her when you are home and need her rather than while in the hospital.

Wow, what a jerk the ex to be,  lawyer is. Oh man, he is milking her bank acct, like an instant ATM machine. This sure gave her something to chew on for awhile, here she thought it was you and it was her very own lawyer padding his bill. So, I am assuming once an offer is made and its declined, then all offers are off the table right? This may get settled sooner than you think once she has had time to think about it and realizes what her own lawyer is doing to her. Guys like him give them all a bad rap.

I sure wish we had a way to contact you and know the surgery went ok, rather than having to wait till you are able to email us. Sounds like you got a good deal on the laptop too. I bought one at Radio Shack on sale and my husbad loves it. He uses it and I use my old PC.

I don't know but things areally are sounding like they pick up around your place, people interested in the house, getting your neck fixed, ex to be finding out her lawyers is jacking with her. It may all fit into place real soon.

We will be thinking of you. Hugs.

WhiteBeard,

So sorry to hear about the Lawyer dilemma.  Sad but Lawyers are either really good or bank robbers, no in between in my experience anyway.

Don't think about anything but getting to the Hospital and having your neck fixed!!  Everything else can wait!

   Dear White Beard,

Good morning *soft huggs* I hope you have a relaxing day today. I simply cannot imagine how you go through so much! Yet remain so strong in the face of it all.

I am sorry you are still struggling with delays from the lawyer. I think I would be very upsett too. It is very obvious her lawyer is padding his pockets. Not just at her expense, but at this point, your expense too. Physically, emotionally, socially and financially. They are really getting out of hand, and it is obvious they have no care for your needs what so ever. If they delay again in December, is there any way you can appeal to the judge that the "stalling tactics" have gotten out of hand? I was once tied up in court, after leaving my X. He had a large amount of wealth at his disposal to ensure I was tied up in court for many years. After 5yrs, the judge forced the decision, and my X and his lawyer lost their rights. LIterally. Apparently, lawyers can get into trouble with a "bar association" of some kind. I do not know how long you have been fighting this fight with your wife, but perhaps if they continue to stall the courts, your lawyer could bring it to the judges attention.

I know you have SO MUCH!! Going on, but I do hope you get a chance to relax this weekend. I hope your surgery is a sucess!!!!!!! I remember you mentioned they were concerned over how they were going to "go in" the particular area. I know they must be very skilled surgeons but you will be in our hearts and prayers. *soft huggs!!!*

*warm huggs*

Thank -You all for your support and kind words! Pete and Draka Monday I am going to have an ACDF Anterior Cervical Diskectomy and Fusion. at C5-C6. Pete this is new work I think the same thing you had done, I had a C6-C7 fusion in 85, but they took the bone graft from my hip and did not use any hard ware to hold it together! This time they will take the disk out and take away part of the bone on both the top and bottom vertebra, and then put in a cage device, and fill it with donor cadaver bone and then put on a plate and anchor it with screw that will be screwed into the top and bottom vertebra. After many nonths hopefully the the bone graft takes and it all grows together, and make it solid bone from C7 through C5, this will take away allot of the flexion in my neck and of course this puts even more stress on the disk above an below T1-C7 and C5-C4 but hopefully they will never need to be fused later on! Anyway the I have found out that the surgery I had ( fusion in 1985) has paralyzed my vocal cords on my right side and when I talk I am using only the vocal cords on my left side. Hopefully they will not damage the nerve or the vocal cords on the left as then I would be speechless with no voice at all! They did tell me I woould probably be hoarse or maybe unable to talk for a few days or even longer after this surgery. But they are worried about my voice since I had so muck trouble with it is 85! Anyway Pete and Drake that is what I am having done early Monday morning! Please keep me in your prayers that day!
Again I Thank-You all!

White Beard,
I again want to tell you I and everyone here will be thinking of you and sending you lots of healing vibes Monday! I know you'll probably be busy with last minute things tomorrow, and certainly will hit the sack early tomorrow night, so I wanted to post this now.

When it's hurting or you're scared or anything just close your eyes and remember all of us here thinking of you!

I can't believe your first fusion was without any hardware; this one should be far more stable. I have the cage and screws in my lumbar spine.

Take your time healing, and we know you'll get back to us when you can, so don't worry if you can't get online for awhile. Just think of all of us smiling at you!

And offering many hugs!

((((((((White Beard))))))))))

PaLady
p.s. Be sure you have ample help before you let them discharge you - or even if need be tell them you need to go into a rehab for awhile. Tell them all your friends from this site will show up at their door very angry if they mistreat you!!! :-)

WB, Your right! That's the same surgery I had! The only difference being when the Dr. was in there he found the huge bone growth squashing the nerve leading to my left arm which he had to cut out and make a new channel for it. I guess when they get inside they may find things a bit different then they saw in the MRI's. I hope thats not the case w/ you or if something does show up, they can fix it like they did mine. I think my surgery was a success and I did get all sensation back in my left shoulder arm and hand. I think my big problem is w/ the ruptured disks above the fusion he didn't fix!! When I fell in that dam hole after my surgery, I believe I did more damage there and not to the fusion itself which is causing me the pain I have now>>>>SO DON"T FALL IN ANY HOLES after your surgery!!!!!! We will be thinking and praying for you over the next couple days. Don't even try to be a hero and contact us on your new lap top!!! You will be too horisontal for that!! I'm sure yo'll do fine! So take it easy and do what they tell you!!
Hang tough my Brother!!

Hi Whitebeard:

I know you probably won't see this until after your surgery, but I wanted to wish you well, and a speedy recovery!

I'm sorry I haven't been around much, so I did not know you were having surgery either, I feel badly as you have always been there for me when I needed support.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers!

The doc said the surgery went just as planned and ir all went well! What a difference it is from the first time I had it done! I truely am Blessed!  PT had me up standing for a bit this afternoon. They will come back in the morning and evaluate me to see if I will need to stay while longer or if I can go home. I truely is amazing! The surgeon said he removed the disk and cleaned it all up and removed the bone spurs freed up all the nerve roots just as planned and put in the cage and bone graft material and then the plate and screws. I have just a small incision on the right side of the neck, with no tape or bandages but I do have a soft cervical collar and they of course have the inflating and deflating air stockings on my lower legs! Well they just brought in my tomato soup and chocolate pudding and rasberry sorbet for my supper! so I will close for now!

WB,

I'm so glad to hear that you're doing well. I've been wondering most of today how you were. I'm happy that we got to hear from you today rather than having to wait for tomorrow.

Guess no voice loss for you this time huh? At least you'll still be able to speak you mind this week. :D

Hopefully things go smoothly for you tomorrow and you get to at least be at home where you can have your space and routine back. If nothing else at least try and enjoy the hospitality at the hospital while you're there.

Take care of yourself and hope to hear about you again soon,
Lacey
