Hi and welcome to your weekend! I appologize for not getting the Koffee Klatch posted on Friday. I had it all written up and all I had to do was click on the 'Submit' button. I did a few emails, got ready for bed, had a snack and did a couple more emails and totally forgot that I hadn't submitted it. It must have been shrunk down and I just shut down my computer and went to bed...lol shocked Geeeezz... silly me.

So it's Saturday huh? Anything fun going on??? Do you remember watching Saturday morning cartoons??? When I was 'cartoon age'...lol...we were fortunate to have a black and white TV. It was so cool! There were a few cartoons on Saturday morning and all kids watched the same ones. If I remember right they were on mainly 1 or 2 channels and you watched all morning, if you could get away with it. I look at some of those cartoons now and wow, were they ever violent! But my favorite was Casper the Friendly Ghost. He was a cute little guy who preferred making friends with people instead of scaring them. I looked on Wikipedia to find out something interesting about Casper and had no idea that he had a last name...McFadden! Casper McFadden...too funny. There are also some strange facts concerning where he came from but I found that a bit disturbing. But it was a good read.

Who was your favorite cartoon character on Saturdays? Take a minute or two and look up something interesting about him/her and share. It sure took me back to our TV room with my brother watching cartoons with me and threatening to pound me to a pulp if I didn't agree to watch the show he wanted...lol Ya, it's true... tongue

Hmmmmm....
I always remember watching Howdy Doody, and even got to meet Buffalo Bill and Clarabell once (wow is that dating me!!!!!). Real life cartoon characters, I guess.

And I used to love a show named Sky King because I always have loved airplanes. The female supporting cast member was a younger woman named Penny and I remember always wanting to grow up and be able to fly like she did!

I know most of you wiil have no idea what I'm talking about!

Who was your favorite cartoon character on Saturdays?

   Dear Chutz,

I loved The Muppet Show. I do not remember it being on during the weekends after we moved to the U.S.. Here it was on during the evenings. It was fantastic! After it stoped air ing, I watched "Fraggle Rock". I loved them both to no end! Here is an odd little fact I learned about The Muppet Show on wikipedia.

"No guest star ever appeared twice on The Muppet Show, although John Denver appeared both on the show and in two specials (John Denver & the Muppets: A Christmas Together and John Denver & the Muppets: Rocky Mountain Holiday). Additionally, several guest stars from the show had cameos in one of the first three Muppet theatrical films."

This was a fun Koffee Klatch!

This will sound funny, but "Space Ghost" was a favorite cartoon for me...

I loved Johnny Quest with Bandit, Reese, and Hodji(sp). I always thought Reese was so handsome even though he was a cartoon character. Top Cat and Yogi Bear were excellent too!

I love good old fashion Looney Tunes. Bugs Bunny and Daffy, and all the rest... But my fav is Foghorn J. Leghorn. Here is what I found on Wikepedia:

A leghorn is a breed of chicken, and foghorn describes the character's loud, overbearing voice. At its most raucous, it sounds similar to that of another Blanc voice: Yosemite Sam (a strictly Friz Freleng character). Both parts of the name suggest the association with "Senator Claghorn."

That was kind of fun!

PaLady...I do remember Sky King very well...in fact when we were in Montana a couple of weeks ago we went to where he was buried, beside his father, mother and brother. It's a small, upright headstone but tasteful. His last name was Hoon and he's famous by that name in the music industry. I guess he was a child prodigy violinist and later a vocalist and band leader but I'm sure he made more money as and actor and as ....<drum roll>
Out of the clear blue western sky comes ~~~~ Sky King in the Songbird!

Sorry for the detour, just couldn't resist this little gift for PaLady!

Here's a small piece from Wikipedia on his tragic death. Kirby Grant, (born Kirby Grant Hoon Jr., in Butte, Montana, November 24, 1911 - October 30, 1985.Grant was killed at the age of seventy-three in a car accident near Titusville, Florida. He was on his way to watch the launch of the Space Shuttle Challenger at Cape Canaveral, where he was also to be honored by the astronauts for encouraging aviation and space flight. Grant was not wearing his seat belt. He is interred in Missoula, Montana.

I was a Bugs Bunny fan. (Oh, we're the boys of chorus, we hope you'd like our show. We know you're rooting for us, but now we have to gooooooo!)

Then I'd watch Super Friends. By then mom was shooing me out of the house to go play. Later I'd sneak back in and watch the Incredible Hulk (Bill Bixby was such a hunk to me). Sometimes I'd watch Knight Rider with "The Hoff" (handsome man).

You know I was thinking and the Smurfs were just freaking awesome. Apparently they were based on a Belgian comic strip called The Smurfs
