HAS ANYONE BEEN DX WITH MS AND HAS BURNING IN THEIR LEGS AND FEET? I HAVE HAD THIS CONDITION FOR 15 YEARS AND MY DOC HAS PRESCRIBED EVERYTHING FROM A-Z AND NOTHING HELPS. IT FEELS LIKE MY FEET ARE IN A POT OF RAPID BOILING WATER. EVERY SEC OF EVERY DAY! I HAD AN MS ATTACK IN JANUARY OF 09 AND IT EFFECTED MY SCIATICA NERVE FROM MY BUTTOCKS DOWN TO MY LOWER CALVES. I AM SEEEING A PAIN MANAGEMENT AND WE TRIED THE PAIN PUMP AND THAT DID NOT WORK. MY NEXT STEP IS THE SPINAL STIMULATOR. I AM ON OXYCONTIN AND PERCOCET , MY PAIN GOES FROM 10 TO A 8 OR 9. CAN ANYONE GIVE ME A LIGHT AT THE END OF THIS TUNNEL. I AM SO DESPERATE FOR RELIEF! THANK YOU...... PLEASE RESPOND

hey NOCLUE,

I am sorry to hear this.  I have nerve pain as well but not as bad as you describe.  That sounds awful!  I don't have any answers for you.  I hope you can find some releif soon.

Welcome to the pain board.  There are a ton of really nice people here.  I hope you will find friendship and support here.  Please stay and let us get to know you.

Do you have vision problems as well?  I was wondering if that is why you wrote in all caps.

No Clue that sound excruciating.  How terrible for you.
I went to the Back Pain specialist last week for my spine and leg/nerve pain problems.  I am unable to take the gabepentin and lyrica type meds cuz of side effects. The Dr suggested low dose methadone seems to help alot of his patients with their nerve problems.  I may start it after I have some procedures.
Also their is  a new fm med out called Savella that I believe works on the nerves.

But that is about all I can help you with right now.  Best of luck to you and I sure hope you can find some relief very soon.

I sure wish I knew what to tell you, but I think the only thing is to try to go to the doctor, Cymbalta also helps with depression and nerve pain..
Might be something to bring up at the doctor..maybe say something like "the medicines you have me on are not helping a lot
with all this nerve pain and is there something else that might work?",.... just something to consider...good luck to you and I hope you can find
some relief soon....Have you tried Physical therapy???
Lots of soft caring hugz

Hi NoClue and welcome to Healing Well. I am so sorry to read about your situation, but I am very glad that you found us. We always hate to see someone new on board with this lousy disease. But, one thing about it, by coming here you will learn that you are not alone, there are many of us here that deal with pain every day, you will find lots of support here. That is just something all of us need badly is support, someone to listen to us. We share all sorts of ideas in an effort to tame the pain.

If you are having true nerve pain pretty much all of the pain meds in the world are not going to be all the effective in relieving your pain. Most people are tried on drugs that can help nerve pain such as Neurotin, Lyrica, Cymbalta and some drs are continuing to use Amitriptilene( not sure of the spelling on that one). I don't know if your dr has tried you on any of these but it may be worth a shot. There are a few on here that is taking Lyrica & Cymbalta together and getting relief. It's all trial and error as you know with medications.

If you try the SCS I do hope its successful for you. You can do a quick search here on the forum about the SCS and pull up different threads about it. We do have some members on board that have the SCS. I just hope the drs can come up with something to give you some very badly needed relief.

Take care and I hope that you will hang out with us.

NoClue,
I also want to welcome you to the CP forum. You've already been given the suggestions I would think of in terms of some different medications that help target nerve pain (neurontin, lyrica and/or cymbalta are some of the main ones). I don't know much about MS treatment, but there is another part of the forum dedicated to that and you can post both here and there. It's easy to switch by just using the Quick Jump menu on top.

This is a great group for support and the sharing of experience. Welcome!

PaLady

May I also welcome you to Healing Well Chronic Pain Forum! Your pain sounds terrible and I do hope the Doctors can get a handle on it soon. I do have a question or two for you, I know you said the nerve was damaged by the MS flare, but have they also checked the lumbar region for herniated disk and impingment of the nerve roots in the lumbar area especially the L4=5 area? I was just wondering if you could have some problems that might need surgical intervention to help give you relief??! I do wish you all the best, and hope that you will stay and become an active member of our family here! We sure cant cure you! but we can listen and give you support, I don't think you will find a more caring and compassionate group of people anywhere, so I do hope you will stay around!

Anyway I again NoClue say Welcome to our forum!
