After I was diagnosed with Fibro, my doctor had given me Neurontin, which I seem to be tolerating, but isn't doing anything for the pain. She also gave me 20 Lortab (Vicodin) for pain equal to or above a 7. I am out of the Lortab already since I've had a bad couple of weeks due to the stress of Thanksgiving. I called my PCP to let her know I was out, and she said she didn't feel comfortable giving me more. Ugh. Instead of writing another script, she referred me to a pain clinic. I checked the website for this clinic and it seems that they only do injections for joint pain and spinal pain! That doesn't help me with my Fibro though. I'm going to do some research and find my own pain doc and ask that I be referred there.
As far as the DJD in my knees, Thursday is my last PT session that my insurance will cover. So then I have to go back to see the Ortho doc to find out what to do next. PT didn't help at all! But, they only allowed me 9 sessions! They found a med that worked pretty well on the pain though> It's called Cataflam. The only thing is, I can take it every 6 hours, and it only works for about 3, sometimes less. So I called the Ortho docs office and asked if there was a way to change the dosing to make it last longer. They said there was an ER formula for it and would call it in for me. They then called back later and said that my insurance won't cover the ER formula! I swear it's one step forward and 2 steps back! Oh well, at least I get a few hours of relief before the pain sets in again.
My goals for this week are to find a pain doc and get in quickly. Wish me luck!
