Boy, I am beginning to think I need to pitch a tent with all these drs appts going. Had my PT eval on Tuesday and it went well enough. I had a nice therapist but that will be my only time with her, for that I am somewhat disappointed. I prefer to have the same person that way they tend to know your progress better than jumping from one to another. She did all of her measurements and then tested my strength. She was floored that with my right hand I can grip 70 lbs from what she said that is very strong for a female. Her first question was what have you been doing with your right hand to have that kind of strength? I said look just because I broke one does not mean life stopped, I can rake a full yard with one hand, pooper scoop after the dogs, sweep a swimming pool with one hand. I even mopped & vacumned with one hand. her main concern is the over usage causing injury and she advised me to slow down on right side before I develop problems with it. You know, I know this, but I guess because I am so determined and hard headed I let it fly right out the window. With the left hand it was 11lbs so there is a little difference.  She massaged my arm and boy did it ever hurt. It was more like doing trigger points, my arm is full of knots so she would apply pressure to these knots trying to get them to relax. about all I can say is it triggered a whole lot of pain and aching in my arm. I have exercises to do at home that are very easy. I can sit at the computer and do some of them. Back to PT Friday.

Saw my not so favorable dermatologist yesterday. He gave me a script for Soriatane and said if my copay is in the $200-$400 bracket not to get it filled that he would look for a cheaper copay. I had to laugh and tell him not to worry, I do not buy meds that cost that much even w/script card. Idiot. He did give me some more samples of an ointment and also gave me a few samples for my face since I have the psoriasis on the right side of my face. I asked him why the psoriasis is extremely worse on the right side of my body versus the left. He looked at me and said I don't know!! He really made me feel stupid for asking the question if you want to know the truth. I felt like it was a good question to ask since my right side is a good ten times worse than the left. I think probably after the first of the year I need to find someone I am comfortable with. This guy and I do not jive at all. He looked at my right foot and wanted to know how long I was on IV meds so I told him  and also told him 10 days of orals after the IV's. He said well your dr needs to scan your foot and check for infection in the bone. The IV meds should have cleared all of it up. I finally have some labs to fax to him tomorrow.

I saw my PCP today and my blood pressure is just way too high. I said well its way too high because I do not feel good. I am having tons of pain in my knees. For some reason my knees have kcicked in and a couple of times I have almost went down. I think over the summer when I was mowing out back I twisted both knees many times by stepping in small dips and holes from my 4 legged buddies. Most likely I have probably got meniscus tears in both knees, have been there and done that too many times. But, they will have to just hurt I am done with knee surgery. I hang onto the railing for dear life when going up & down the stairs in the house because it is becoming a problem going both directions. Also, no Humira shots in a while and it does help with the joint pain. I am having a Bone Scan Monday morning to check for infection in the bone. The PCP agreed I should not still have infection in the foot. Ya think so, its only been since August come on. Whew I am becoming a sarcastic old bag. Keep your fingers crossed that I am just a freak of nature with this foot.

Next week is PT 2x7 and an appt with my gastro. I need to get some free meds from him to stock pile. He is good about giving samples out. I think thats all for next week but seems like I am missing someone. So far I have 3 dr appts for January. it's just never ending. Oh, one guy I have dodged and think I probably messed up is I have missed all my cardiac testing this year. I always do it in November. Too late for this year, they are booked. I think I was suppose to see someone about the artieries in my neck, can't remember his name. He did the test last year and I had 50% blockage and he said to come back in 6 months and I totally forgot about him till now. I cannot even remember who the hell he was. Thats entirely too many drs to keep up with. He and the others will just have to wait till next year. I am tired of going to this one and that one.

I am out of here for now. I need to go to the toy store, I have one more thing to get the little boy and i will be done with him. The big kids get gift cards so that is really easy. Now, they all agree gift cards are nice and they can pick out exactly what they want. My d-inlaw was the last one to give in on this. She always insisted I buy her presents from her list. Now she lets me pick from the stores she likes to shop at.

Oh, got my regular flu shot today. At least that is out of the way. I also take tylenol for 24 hrs after getting the shot and I always do fine. No problems from it. My arm is a little sore but it will be fine. Lets all hope for some low pain days ahead.

"Whew I am becoming a sarcastic old bag" ....You think? :)   I just have to laugh at your post....as it is most entertaining to say the least! I do sympathize with you on all the Dr appointments....that's all I have done this year too! Getting the free samples is a smart thing to do.......my Dr gave me some free Viagra! My wife has been begging for me to give her a hard time...now I think I actually can! :) Stray, I don't know how you do half the things you do, with all your health problems! You must have a calendar that has scribble marks all over it, for all the Dr appointments that you have to keep track of...let alone, all the other things in life we need to keep track of as well. Which flu shot did you get? The H1N1? I got mine a week ago...and need to get the other one now. You know...it's after I read a post like yours, that I feel ashamed about my own health problems....I only have DDD ...a few heart problems in the past, but doing fine now, see the skin doctor every six mo, cause I had melanoma cancer, but had that cut out, and doing fine now.  I hesitate...saying this, but I hope this old bag...can get some relief!...and in a whole lot of different areas! :) Just joking with you Stray...you know that I don't mean any harm!....you do know that don't you?.....Gulp! :(   Please tell me that I can shut both eyes tonight!....Gulp! :(  Take care of yourself...and visit us more often...as we enjoy hearing from you! :) You are interesting...and are highly respected here on ther forum's for your vast knowledge. The only way to get that... is suffering!....and you have suffered alot! Hope to see you on the Chat tonight!

Susie,
I had to chuckle at parts of your post, too. Someone telling you to slow down??? LOL

But on a serious note, I couldn't help wonder if the psoriasis being worse on your right side is related to the stress you put on that right side to compensate for the left. I think psoriasis can be triggered by stress, so it's just a thought. I mean 70lbs. on the right side???? Hey, lady, you're unbelievable!

Pitching a tent. Sounds like a good idea but much too cold here for me to do that! I don't think people have any idea that it CAN be a full time job being sick, and I'm not joking. How could anyone possibly work and keep up all those appointments?

We're due for up to 2 feet of snow here by tomorrow and of course my neurologist's office calls late this afternoon to say two of my meds have just arrived at their office. Pfizer insists they go to the docs office, even though these are NOT pain meds. Everything else comes to the house, although the anti-depressant folks refuse to send my effexor any earlier than Dec. 17th. Joy, joy. Can't wait for that to get lost in the mail. Sorry, went off on my own stuff.

I do hope you can get some of those medical things under control as part of YOUR Christmas present!

Hugs,

PaLady

Palady you are right it is a full time job being unhealthy, its a fulltime job going to the dr. I knew I forgot someone on the list and its the ortho next Wed to look at my arm. In between all of this dr business I will be picking up the Texas Tornado from school a couple of afternoons too.

I am beginning to get a little overwhelmed as the only decorating that has been done is the upstairs bathroom. No tree done yet nothing. No baking done, nada. I am going back and forth on the tree do I put it up or say the hell with it this year. I think I am stressing out somewhat. I got out there this afternoon and cleaned on the pool some more, I have to keep it leaf free regardless.

Its in the 30's here daytime and I am not use to the cold at all. We have had hard freezes so the banana trees have to be cut down and hauled to the curb on the first Monday of the month for pick up. The trees look awful now and will become very messy and end up everywhere. I have a big machete looking knife I use to whack them down.

I cannot imagine a foot of snow. Gawd talk about becoming a hermit I am sure you do with such low temps. But, I have to admit if it snows I am out there in with the kids. But, I grew up where there was snow and when you don't see much it is a treat for us Texans. I am sure it is best I do not live where you have to stay inside during the winter because I would go nuts being cooped up. I have to stay up  & moving around or I am real nervous. I have always been a little on the high strung side. If I sit long I get so stiff that its not even funny. I have got to the point of standing at my counter and eating because sitting is such a problem. I do stand more a day than sit or lay, that is strictly due to stiffness. I take Mobic and I am not sure just how much it helps.

You may have hit on something here with the right side. Lets face it, something weird is going on with the right side of my body. The psoriasis is on the right side of my face only, right side at the hairline, right arm & elbow  and of course the right hand and foot. It is really strange. My right foot swells much more than the let, I have gone up a half size bigger mainly for the extra width. The left shoe flops somewhat if its not a tie on.

I looked at my papers and had it in my head the Bone Scan was tomorrow but in fact it is Monday. I am not real thrilled because I have to be there at 8:00 for the injection and then go back at 11:00 for the scan. That is putting me right in the middle of rush hour and thats not good.

Yesterday I went thru the downtown area and by my old office of 18 yrs. It is still standing, but they have built all of these high dollar apts all around it. the old gal that bought the bldg held out and would not sell the land. it really looks so out of place. I bet by now she wishes she had taken the money because the way they built the apts they do not neeed that little patch now. lol. They have really dropped the dough trying to bring people back to the downtown area, but the rent down there is out of sight.  The apts and condos are very elegant, they are not for your average person or family.  The people in this town with the big bucks want the fancy high dollar homes on the west side by the country club, they do not want in downtown. So, it will be interesting to see how it all pans out. I do like to go down there at night with all of the Christmas lights going, it is so pretty.

Oh well, got off track here as usual. thanks to all that replied.

Just wanted to empathize with you on the "always at appointments" I'm always at the pharmacy. I'm on 10 meds and they all are filled at different times, so it seems I'm always driving to the pharmacy to pick up something, my "favorite" (sarcasm intended) is the pain meds b/c have to pick up rx from MD office and then go sit at pharmacy to be filled--you would think that if you are a CP patient, something could be worked out where the MD could arrange to have the rx phoned in or the paper could be faxed, why do we have to personally hand it over? If "they" are worried about fraud it would make sense that a MD calling in the order to be filled would be more valid. I'm rambling now, need to stop.

I hear ya Lucy. I was on 16 different meds but have had some others added so I have lost count. Naturally few scripts are ever filled on the same day. I get to run back & forth. When I pick up just two or three they ask are you sure thats all you have-now thats bad, lol. I am their job security, lol.

Oh Straydog....you make me laugh.  I know exactly what you mean about having too many darn Dr.'s... I forget their names too.  confused   It makes me feel like I have Dimentia.smhair   Luckily my PCP takes care of most things not pain related so this year has been pretty easy for me...the only Dr. I DO NOT want to see is the Gastro...I had a Colonoscopy/Endoscopy done a few years ago at the same time...along with a 24 hour PH test..ya know, the one where they shove a tube in your nose to your tummy and hook a computer to it...then you have to hit a button whenever you have acid...they did such a good job that the tube tied itself in a knot in my tummy and it was hard for them to pull it out...ha ha that was fun...anyway, my PCP wants me to do it again....No Way!!  So I have to use OTC meds for my GERD...I also have a Hiatal Hernia and my little "valve" that blocks acid doesn't work....Hmmmm....maybe I should go...HUH?

Anyway, don't feel bad about all the Dr.'s...at least you are well covered...
I hope your knees feel better, I wear a knee brace and it sucks...it still hurts all the time, so why wear it?  but I do.

On the 29th of this month my son, Tyler is having surgery...He has a big tumor on his femur, called an Osteochondroma...it's so big and has a main artery wrapped around it, they want to take it out.  He may have screws and plates when it's over...He's acting like it's ok, he's scared and I know it...Hell, I'm scared.

So, feel better....have a Merry Christmas..

Rhonda, I totally understand not wanting to do the scopes. Its not the procedure its the prep that is a killer for me. What happened with you and the tube knotting up sounds horrible. I would be real gun show of that test again. There are other ways to check on your hernia and the others as well, lol. I think they like to torture us. I have dodged the bullet on the colonoscopy for two yrs which is unheard of w/my gi. But, I just told him I had, had enough of him and his degrading tests. I have done many of them several times over and I do have a limit and we hit it. He laughes at me but he also knows I am dead serious too. My first intro to colonoscopies was three in 6 months!! One morning he was late and I was the first patient. He was at home cooking breakfast for him and his kids. Don't think I didn't unload on him and he told the nurse to shut me up, lol she did. He has several kids at home and he is a super Dad, I told him to save his cooking skills for after office hours.

I went to PT this morning and was very disappointed in the guy that did my PT. He massaged the heck out of my arm and got it hurting real nice. Then he pulled it this way and tried pulling it that way till I stopped him. Right now flexion & extension is not part of the plan with my arm so he thought he would force it. I had to make him stop. Then he put it in ice and helped another gal work on a fellow. He did not do any of the exercises the first gal did so this guy is not for me. If you are going to make my arm hurt do it for a good reason.

PaLady mentioned stress being a trigger for an outbreak of psoriasis. Yes, stress does trigger it along with infections. I think there is a connection with the overusage thing. How do I slow that down, I am not sure.

Hope everyone has a low pain day I am trying-so far it is not working.
