Thanks Char! Tomorrow is my last day of classes, then I have exams on the 18th, 21st, and possibly 22nd. We are getting out so late this year thanks to the late Labor Day. turn I don't think my exams will be too bad this semester, but I can always use the extra luck! I just hope my eye isn't too bad & I can study.

I've been having a really rough couple weeks pain-wise, plus my vision & neurologic function have changed again for the worse. I see my neuro-ophthalmologist and regular ophthalmologist in January. I've also decided to go through with the stimulator trial, so I'm in the process of trying to get that set up. I need to call the OR coordinator again tomorrow. I really want to do it over winter break (asap), but it depends on my insurance and the surgeon's OR schedule. Now that I made the big decision I want everything done NOW. This is really the only thing left that we haven't tried that might give me some relief & I'm dying for some relief. I'll post more about the stimulator trial as soon as I know more.

My Kindle is great (it's actually from amazon.com). I love it because it allows me to "read" some books for fun (I use the text to speech feature, so the kindle reads the book out loud) and make the text huge. It is so easy to use & you don't need a computer to download books. I just wish that they had some more books to choose from. They have a ton of books, but most of my favorite series/books I want to read haven't been converted to the kindle form yet. But all in all I'd highly recommend it to anyone. I wish my real reader system that I use with my computer was this easy to use. I got the thing in August, but I haven't had time to call someone for help yet! turn So I just use it the best I can, but it'd be more useful if I got it working they way it was in the store...

Many hugs for you, dear Char! When doe your daughter come home? You must be very excited! ((((((Char)))))).

Skeye,
I just wanted to give you a hug and a cheer for getting through the semester (well, you're almost through!). One more to go, right?

I hope you can get the stim trial set up so you can at least know if that might help. You really are a fighter! I know you're going to get through to your degree, and that will be a huge accomplishment.

The Kindle sounds so neat. If I could afford one, I'd love it, but then again they'll probably come down in price in the future, and more books will become available. Then maybe I can buy a used one! I think I saw a story about a college somewhere that was switching over to having their students using the Kindle instead of text books. It's only a matter of time.

Good luck with finals!

Hugs,

PaLady

Just wanted wish you luck on your exams. I am sure you will do just fine on them. It seems like you were just going back to school and starting the semester! Time is flying by! Anyway I hope you can get your stimulator trial over your winter break, I do hope that it works out for you! I know how much you would like to at least get some relief from the pain! I do wish you well and hope you have a nice Christmas Holiday!

Oh yes I wanted to tell you I did check out the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. All I can say is I want one! They are absolutely beautiful dogs, and for a small dog I think it is just what I need! Thanks for the tip!

Skeye,

I also wanted to add some luck! I know how tricky finals can be normally, not to mention when you're dealing with everything else. I feel pretty lucky that all I've got are a handful of papers and projects. Also, the Kindle sounds amazing. I asked for one from my folks for Christmas, but I doubt I'll get it. Maybe someday when I have money of my own! I'm glad to hear it has worked out so well for you!

Pain Issue: Sub-scapular bursitis, scapular dyskinesia, nerve damage down left arm, shoulder and neck
Treatment: PT, Tens Unit, Oxycodone, Diazepan, Hydrocodone-APAP, Tramadol, Voltaren/Duac gel

Also random hearing loss in both ears at age 18ish, not sure exactly when it happened or why. Got amazing Oticon hearing aids at 20, they've worked wonders! Keep hoping that my doctors can connect my ears to my shoulder and fix them both all at once!! A girl can dream, right?

Palady, White Beard, and Jenna, thanks so much for the well wishes! Now that classes ended (today was the last day) I'm starting to get a little more stressed about my exams. They shouldn't be too bad, but things keep popping up (like I unexpectedly had to work from 3-9 pm today, so I drove the hour & a half to work straight from my last class) & so I haven't had a chance to start studying yet. I just have to get through these exams & then one more semester!

The Kindle really is great! They are really expensive though -- but for me it was worth it, as it allows me to "read" a little for fun again. Give it a couple years & they'll probably be more reasonably priced (and better quality).

White Beard, I'm glad you looked at the King Charles Caviler, they are great dogs. Although I'm a big dog person, if I was ever to get a small dog, that's the one I'd get! Their personalities are similar to golden retrievers (which I've grown up with), so they are kind of like "mini-goldens" :-) (although they don't require nearly as much exercise). I think a King Charles would make a great companion for you! My dog (we have 3, but one of them is actually mine) was a gift from heaven. We were never supposed to get him, he just found us/me. H's changed my life in so many ways & helped me through so much over the last year. I think dogs are better people than people :-).

Skeye

your post made me smile! You said about your dog:(" H's changed my life in so many ways & helped me through so much over the last year. I think dogs are better people than people .") That is because dogs give ("unconditional" LOVE) not like most people!
I am sure you will do fine on your exams! But I will not tell you not to worry ( a good healthy dose of worry and stress can be a good incentive for you to be well prepared for your test!)

Good Luck to you Skeye!
