Michael,
I saw you asked on another thread about the computer problems. I haven't changed anything, yet. It has been a BIT better today in that I got a few more posts in, but then it still cut out on me. I'm hoping that means it's really more due to Christmas traffic and having a dial up connection. So I just keep my fingers crossed, but I still my breath when typing a post, knowing somehow it won't stay connected like before!

I also had a tire go bad and learned today I've got to get a new one and the cheapest one that fits my car is over $100. It is raining and pouring on too many of us here!!

Take care,
PaLady

How can I help you? I do want to you know! I do wish I was an umbrella for you!

White Beard

P.S. I don't want to say anything that might jinx my luck, but we are in the haggling stage of the bidding. on selling the house. They came in very low but have since came back with a better bid but still to low. I keep my fingers and toes crossed that every thing works out!

White Beard,
That's GREAT! Maybe a Christmas present for you??? Sorry it didn't come before the snow....my swamee hat is lost somewhere!

I wish you could be an umbrella for me and others, too, but in a way you are by all you do here!

Fingers and toes crossed the house sells....and that this post makes it before my computer crashes again!

Jag,
Unfortunately, the swamee hat doesn't seem to be working all that well, if and when I do find it! LOL But I'll give it a shot. Maybe I need to try a crystal ball!

Last night I only got to post on this thread before everything crashed, and it could be it will get worse over the next couple of days IF my theory is correct about holiday traffic. So if you all don't see much of me that will be why!

White Beard - did your daughter come for Christmas? I haven't seen you post about it, but then again I'm not able to keep up on all the posts. I hope she did, but if not, you won't be the only one on your own!

Hugs and Happy Holidays to everyone!

There suppose to leave tomorrow, and they are coming to my house the morning of the 24th, and spending the day and staying the night and then early the 25th around 7 or 8 AM they are driving up to her Grandmothers ( about 55 miles away), to spend Christmas Day with her mom and her moms family. We will have our traditional steaks cooked out on the grill Christmas Eve and then eat by candle light. do our gift exchange then go to mass at 10PM and come back and early Christmas Morning before they leave we will do Santa Stockings. Everyone has a Santa stocking, even the pets used to get a stocking! It isn't Christmas with out a stocking! I know it might sound corny but I go all out on filling stockings! I think they are so much fun!

Anyway I figure maybe late Christmas Day afternoon I might drive into town and go to the show and see Avatar or something, just to get out, and not be alone in the house all day on Christmas! PALady are you also going to Christmas Day alone? If so look for me here on the forum, If I see you on I will sign on to Chat and we can talk on chat if you want! Pass some time if your computer lets you that is! Maybe internet traffic will be less on Christmas Day! and your computer won't crash! Just a thought anyway!

White Beard,
I will likely be alone Christmas Day, as the extended family is getting together on the 26th. And a former student of mine and her family are coming to stay with her father who lives very close to me sometime after the 27th. But Christmas Day I'll just hang out and relax.

BUT I MAY have a four legged companion! I am sort of distance cat-sitting for my goddaughter's cat, who loves to go outside and has a lot of woods at his house. A neighbor goes over every day and lets him in and out and feeds him, but I'll at least go over and visit with him a couple of times and take him some treats. If I could "cat proof" the place a little I might bring him here for a couple of days, but I won't let him out. I'm afraid something might happen to him as this neighborhood is foreign to him, and has a lot more dogs and stuff. If anything happened to him while I was taking care of him it would break my heart as the kids love him so much. I'll see if he wants to come with me, or puts up a fuss. He has a pretty large house with three levels to roam around in, and mine is pretty small.

I'm not sure about the chat. Will see how the computer is doing, but I'm hoping it will improve!

Have a great Christmas Eve and morning!

PA Lady,
Sometimes when it rains it pours...sorry to hear about your tire, and losing your hat my goodness how much can one girl take. I think I'd rather buy something else for $100 than to spend it on a tire. I know you probably would too.. Those crazy things are such a necessity, so expensive and not much fun to buy. Thoughts and prayers from me are heading your way for a better 2010 and a Merry Christmas!!

It is nice that you have the cat to take care of! I really need a mouser! The realtor E-mailed me today and said that the couple that had bid asked her to show them some other houses. As I told my realtor if they are not seious then they don't need to insult me with such a low bid and waste my time! We were asking 165 thousand and last week we lowered it to 157.9 well their first bid was 128.9 so we countered 154.9 and they came back 138.9 on advice from our realtor we just told them it has to be higher. Most of the houses in our area have been going for between 165 and 240 thousand with the average being just over 200 thousand and most of the homes are around 1600 sq. ft. on a single lot. we have a double lot and our house is just under 2200 sq ft. and it is 2x6 construction all the others are 2x4 at 165 we had our house priced low to sell and I will be d*** if I am going to give it away! If they want to come back with a serious bid then I am still here waiting! As bad as I want to sell it I will not let someone try to steal it! and I will not give it away!

White Beard,
I don't blame you! I'm going to keep this short because I keep getting bumped off, although I haven't tried much today. It does sound like these people don't appreciate the home that you've built, and from what I saw in the photos it's a beautiful home!

If you don't want to stay there, you can take your wife up on her offer and move out and have her keep it up!

I'll try to write more in a bit, but I want to submit this before I crash!

I just read another post where you mentioned problems with your hot water heater. Have you gotten that taken care of? No hot water is not a good thing, it's way too chilly out for a cold shower. I just hate thinking of you with no hot water. Wish I could send my husband over to your place for a few days. He's a maintenance supervisor & can fix anything. He can be a regular old MacGyver when need be too.

White Beard, Jag and everyone,
I'm trying to get a quick post in. Yesterday I was crashing almost immediately after signing on, so I gave up. But I also was exhausted from getting ready for kitty -sitting! Had to prepare things like litter, food, sleeping places, etc. And wow, that took a lot out of me!

I had Birch (the cat) for an overnight stay last night. He was fine, but didn't like being confined to a room overnight (I didn't want to let him roam the house, as I wasn't sure what he'd fine "interesting" and he hasn't been outside in a few days, so he's ansy!). He was a sweetie in most ways. Loves to cuddle, but also looked longingly out the windows, and as the temp. was warming up a little today and tomorrow I brought him back to his house where the neighbor could let him in and out. I'll probably have him for a couple of days next week when it gets colder again, and he's had some outside time! I hate to let him outside here - I don't know if he'd get lost or hurt or what. But it was interesting having him. While I loved cuddling, it made me remember all the work entailed, so it's a good experience to give pause about whether I'm ready to take on a cat again.

Anyway, I'm exhausted! Tonight I'm going to try to relax and maybe make the pumpkin pies for Saturday.

Jag - yes, I got my hot water working! And I didn't have to call anyone this time, as I learned where the reset button is! But anytime your husband wants to come over I can make a long, long list of things for him!

Anyway, wishing a happy and peaceful holiday to everyone, including those of us spending it alone. A special hug goes out to others like me who may not be having a family gathering tonight or tomorrow.

And I'll stop now and hope I can post this before crashing!
