Hello all,
Yesterday was a good visit with PM Doc.  She was very thorough, as most aren't...and she focused more on my knee then on my back...that was odd...since most of my trouble is with my back.  I guess since there's not much they can do for it they decided to focus on something they can fix.  Hopefully.  So, I am in there, sitting on the little table, telling her about my son's surgery on his Osteochondroma...I find out she used to work at the same hospital (Vanderbilt Childrens) in Orthopedic Surgery.  She then told me all about the surgery and how he will be great....I won't go into details but I'm not worried anymore...Then when it comes time to do scripts she says "Since you will be so involved in helping your son after his surgery I think you should come back in 2 months"....What?  That has never happened before.  I heard some patients last vist talking about only coming every 2 months but forgot to ask about it...Turns out I didn't have to.  YIPPEE!!!!  She gave me my scripts...one set for yesterday and one set for next month...She said NOT to give it to the pharmacy because they won't let me get it filled any earlier then 30 days...but she wrote on it that I could get it filled on the 12th of January....ok?  That's not a month....is it?  NO, but I guess she realizes that sometimes we may need to take more.  She has always been a favorite of mine, her and the main Dr. I see.... This coming every 2 months is new for them and I'm so thankful that I don't have to go next month...

We also talked about the stimulator implant... I have pretty much decided NO...I have heard so many horror stories about it and the pain pump and I don't want anymore surgeries.

Maybe I'll change my mind. Oh, something about the pharmacy....I almost forgot.

My script for Methadone couldn't be filled until Monday and I'm already out...So, I was not looking forward to a weekend without.  The Pharmacy Tech said "Are you out"? "Yes"  then she gave me enough to last me for the weekend....I have never had that happen before...at least not with Methadone....they did it with Blood Pressure meds. but not narcotics.....I was so relieved....

So, after having so much go wrong lately finally.....something good.  Thank You...

what a nice visit you had with you doc. It is nice when they actually listen and those docs are few and far between.

Unique, I wish the rest of us have that much luck the next time we see our PCD's or PM for refills! I'm glad they took care of you, and it sure takes a burden off of a person.

Ya Know?  If I had told anyone else that same story they would have been like....So?  The only people on this Earth that understand what I go through are right here...on HW...and I want to thank all of you for making me feel so much better about my situation.  I know that there are many many people out there that are far worse off then me, but it makes my day better to know that I can count on you guys and gals...

I am so very lucky..I had a PCP once a long time ago...and she didn't give any narcotics...I thought I was in for a bumpy ride with her to say the least...then, one day, she said she wanted to refer me to a Dr. she went to Medical school with...that Dr. is the PM Doc that I started off with at the same office I still go to.... It just goes to show you that when one door closes you might find a broken window around somewhere....ha ha  idea

If it weren't for that Christian based Dr. I would probably still be searching for a decent PM Dr. and have been through several bad ones to boot....

My son Tyler is having his surgery on the 29th of this month...He has an Osteochondroma on his right leg, inside, above his knee...actually it's on his femur.  They will have to cut part of his femur away because the tumor is made of bone and cartlidge and is part of his leg bone.  YUK!!  They may have to use screws and plates if they break the bone accidentally.  He is getting freaked out  shocked smhair and so am I ...it will be his first major surgery.

I will keep you all posted of course...and Thanks for thinking of him and me.

Rhonda

There is no better feeling than to have a doctor that truley cares about you as a patient and a person.  They are few and far behind and you are so fortunate to have such a caring and understanding PM.  It sure makes living with these diseases much easier to manage.

Prayers to both you and your son for a safe and healthier new year.
